Right off the bat, the back wall of the eatery backs on to E. Hatings alley. Small diner that tries to be classier than it is. The entry is too small and sudden. Exterior awning would help waiting patrons. Some window dressing and better lighting...More

Now let me tell you about the best kept secret in Vancouver. Many times I passed through the area blowing it off because of the run down look and homeless people outside. But boy was I COMPLETELY wrong. As soon as I came in I...More

I discovered the Calabash Bistro purely by accident. There was parking handy and the bistro looked inviting so I wandered in for brunch. The brunch bowl (with ox tail) was very satisfying and the price modest.

Delicious Caribbean cuisine. The entrees were very tasty but it was the appetizers that stole the show. The Camembert was fantastic and the coconut dumplings were a big big hit. Combine dumplings with the soup for a yummy meal. Dodgy part of town, though. Go...More

So we got off to a very late start looking for dinner on Saturday night and had, unfortunately (or not), run out of most options. Calabash was close and had good reviews, so we headed there. What a lively scene we wandered into!! After an...More

This is the best Jamaican restaurant in Vancouver. The food is great and is reasonably priced. They have dance floor and music on the weekend.

Date night. Wanted to try something different. Great atmosphere, food was tasty and we'll presented. Terrific selection of rums! Server was knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Going back for the dancing another night.

Visiting Vancouver and stumbled across this place. The food was fantastic... the staff were lovely and friendly. If I lived closer I would certainly make my way through the menu! It's a must.

With the recent exodus of massive new building
projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which
has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas;
is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before.
Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian
cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking,
Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a
space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes
