My wife loves tea, I'd be fine in a world without tea. We (she) stopped in on a whim and I burned up time looking at some expensive aged teas and various items in the store while my wife shopped. She picked out a few items which I was then tasked with holding until finally the gentleman in the store... More

Very rarely do you encounter a business that is truly special. I had the pleasure of trying some incredibly good white tea at The Chinese Tea Shop. Daniel, the owner, knows his tea. He will teach you the correct way to brew it and the proper way to serve. He will not sell you anything low quality. I'd definitely recommend... More

If you like your tea this store is a must visit. Daniel the owner is very knowledgeable and friendly. He let me sample a good number of fine teas, puerhs and oolongs. Great place to learn more about tea or if you are a tea connoisseur you will find a great selection here.

I am a tea lover. While visiting Vancouver from the States, I happened upon this store. My husband tagged along and reluctantly came in. We met Daniel, the owner. He was inviting and knowledgeable. I finally know why my tea sometimes tasted bitter. Daniel taught us the art of Gong Fu Cha and we sampled a lovely pu-erh tea. The... More

If you like tea and the Chinese tea ceremony, go to this shop while in Vancouver. At the periphery of Chinatown, it is a neat store. Read about it in National Geographic Traveller and since I love tea especially tea from China and India, my husband and I visited this shop. Daniel Lui- the proprietor is passionate about Chinese tea... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
With the recent exodus of massive new building projects hitting the neighbourhood, Chinatown; which has always been one of the city's most vibrant areas; is even more buzzing and buoyant than ever before. Playing host to some of the city's best pan-Asian cuisine, from fusion food to traditional home-cooking, Chinatown has remained faithful to its roots as a space which clambers with shop signs and welcomes diners to the table. More that that, it has a hip experimental vibe to it, with trendy pop-ups and catchall market shops. The biggest of Canada's Chinatowns, it is also home to an expansive Chinese garden whose manicured grounds inspire and delight, its ponds and pagodas drawing walkers in for an stroll. Take in the red streetlights, the playful awnings, and the upbeat air that suffuse this area.
