First choice is always the pork sandwich, but you can do no wrong by ordering any of them. Their soups and salads are really good too. Don't let the long line ups intimidate you; they usually move pretty quickly.

Went to Meat & Bread for lunch with a few colleagues. Staff was friendly and welcoming. One long communal table for everyone to dine. Ambiance is great and the food wonderful. The Moroccan Carrot soup was to die for. I hear the lines can get...More

Lively, fast-acting sandwich place. Lots of servers lovingly crafting the most tasty meat sandwich possible. Gorgeous fresh hunk of pork takes pride of place as you walk in and they crunch up the crackling as an extra treat in your bun. Slightly spiced meatball sandwich...More

We searched cheap eats. We found a wonderful Cheesesteak. Superb! We would go there anytime we are in downtown.

Went with the family and not sure the location and seating is conducive to have small children but we made it work. Every sandwich we ordered was delicious. Very focused concept and they do a great job. I'd go back.

We popped in here spur of the moment while wandering through Gastown. The food was excellent - they were chopping succulent porchetta as we were ordering. My wife had meatball sandwich, daughter grilled cheese and I had a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. All were...More

Fun and yummy lunch! The pork sandwich was awesome and a really great deal. I was stuffed from just the sandwich. They were very helpful and patient with newbies. I only wish they had a few more wine selections but definitely wouldn't keep me from...More

Used to come here 3 times a week, was downtown to visit and swung by - sandwiches are still amazing!

A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and
stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of
being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many
plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell
the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's
history a more lively presence here than anywhere
else. Having been originally founded around a popular

Yes they serve alcohol. I have had craft beers there and I noticed cider. I can't say what other options are on the menu.

We make sandwiches that are high quality, of good value, and prepared with skill as well as heart. The essence of our food simple, fast, delicious is the foundation of Meat & Bread. Our first shop opened its doors in 2010 in the historic Gastown neighbourhood of Vancouver, Canada, and, since then, we have opened another shop in Vancouver as well as in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighbourhood and in downtown Calgary’s historic Grain Exchange building.
