Had a quick lunch at Sake Maki with our daughter and grand-daughter. Sushi was fresh, nicely prepared and service prompt. Our first time but our daughters go to for sushi on the drive. Cool interior with lots of tables and bench seating for larger groups. Our 16 month grand-daughter especially likes the California rolls and the agedashi tofu. The owner... More

I really like this place, i often just use the delivery service, the delivery guy is very good and if you a regular you get treated well, with sometimes very fast delivery, dine in is nice and its recently reneovated within the last year. They usually offer dine in specials, and the Che'fs special rolls are a must

My partner has had take out from here a few times with friends and always enjoyed their meals. We tried it about a month ago and she noticed they have renovated the dining area and made it a much more comfortable atmosphere. On our visit we were tired and just wanted to get home . We ordered various items to... More

Great affordable sushi and soups etc. They just did a Reno and it looks great in here! I have been here many times and am never disappointed.

Visited this restaurant with a friend. The ambience is non-existent - just an old hole-in-the-wall place, but food was beyond superb. We tried several of their specialty rolls - fantastic! Service was pleasant and food arrived pretty fast.

I'm from Alberta, so I don't eat seafood often and when I do it isn't very pleasant. I visited Vancouver recently and my girlfriend (who is originally from BC) took me to her favourite Sushi restaurant. As we approached it, it seemed tiny, hidden/tucked away. The service was very quick which was nice (because when I'm hungry, I like to... More

Commercial Drive has more than enough sushi joints; but this one has some of the best selections. The room itself is a bit run down, service is curt, but the food is good value. Nice selection of sashimi, rolls, and cones. Fairly creative and the best on the drive.

I've been here before and it was fine, this time has me deciding not to return. The food, when it finally arrived (I took the dish that was "forgotten" to go) was good, wish I could say the same about the service - some of the worst I've ever experienced. I also people leaving as they didn't get served, very... More

My husband and I found this little restaurant while walking along Commercial Drive. The place is a little shabby and the service could have been friendlier. But the sushi was pretty good, and the prices were great!

I've ordered from them before, they were ok, so I went for them again, but this time they have the cheek to ask for extra?! I understand delivery may cost extra, as their driver may want some pay, however, they didn't not understand the rules of on-line order. some area may ask for extra charges, but not for my area!... Staying in Commercial Drive

Neighbourhood Profile
Commercial Drive
Commercial Drive, also called "The Drive," comprises of twelve sauntering blocks of modest and unfussy counter-culture. Straddling the line between sophisticated and unadorned, it is favoured by students, artists, writers, designers, and start-ups, and suffused throughout with a healthy off-beat counter-culture. The kind of neighbourhood which well-springs thought-revolutions and has the odd bit of self-aware graffiti, Commercial Drive has resisted gentrification in favor of continuing to build a thriving den of affordable multiculturalism. Once known as Vancouver's "Little Italy," it has also been the immigration point for Guatemalans, Hondurans, and Portuguese to the city. The resulting hodgepodge makes for poetry readings in espresso cafes, social debates in early-open bakeries, and eco-activism posters pinned up in the many multi-ethnic markets in the area. Commercial Drive is where you go to feel like a local, and if you have them, bring the kids – The Drive has a number of bookshops, toy stores, and attractions to get them involved too.
