Longwood Brew Pub is central Vancouver Island's first Brew Pub and Nanaimo's favourite rendezvous destination. Our restaurant, pub and brewery stand proud as the "jewel in the crown" of Longwood Station. Located conveniently on the Island Highway amongst beautiful landscaping and natural West coast wilderness, we are easily accessible from all parts of Nanaimo, as well as ferry terminals and all points north & south on Vancouver Island.

Gorgeous restaurant with a great staff

Longwood brew and pub restaurant is a location I frequent often with friends and family. The food is amazing for nanaimo and sets a great standard for others to pursue. Although it can be pricey it's definitely fair. I had the blueberry flaked kalamari with a friend and it was absolutely delicious. I know someone who works in the kitchen and from her opinion its a great place for the cooks as well. The staff is very accomadating and humorous always great conversations. They uphold the covid 19 standards perfectly and would recommend it to anyone travelling through/to/or already lives here.

Excellent meal and service

Last night we enjoyed a lovely meal at Longwood Brew Pub. We were greeted and sat very quickly and throughout our dining experience, we received excellent customer service. Our server was very efficient, professional and friendly and our meals were timed perfectly. We enjoyed appetizers and a variety of entrees and found them to be very tasty. We were too full for dessert as the portions are very generous. This is a lovely restaurant and we would definitely recommend you try it. Thank you to everyone at Longwood Brew Pub who made our evening so enjoyable.

Dinner With Friends

I met some friends here for a meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. I ordered a veggie burger with onion rings. The onion rings were especially good - I highly recommend them! My friend really liked her chicken salad and my other friend said his chicken gyoza was excellent! Our server was lovely and very attentive.

Birthday Celebration

Six of us attended Longwood restaurant for a friends birthday , it was 4:00 pm and wasn't busy at all. We odered drinks, my beer came luke warm in a totally sticky glass. As dinner was being bought for us, i was quiet and didn't complain. Some of us ordered fish and chips- it was thickly battered, so thick that the inside of the coating was raw, and saturated in oil. So saturated that i removed all the batter, leaving precious little to eat. The fries were limp and soggy, no sign of a properly cooked fry what so ever. We live close but probably wont return , the service was quite good.

This restaurant is going downhill.

During our last visit, we had to wait an hour for our nachos. They also told us that they could not customize the nachos (a simple request to put olives on half of the nachos) because the kitchen would not do it. Are restaurants not suppose to cater to customers reasonable requests? How hard is it to sprinkle some olives on half of the order as opposed to putting cold olives in a bowl to sprinkle on hot nachos? The restaurant is old, their patio furniture consists of plastic green and maroon chairs and tables from the nineties, and the manager did not try to make our order right. We are long-time patrons and will not return until this place either makes some improvements or is under new management.

OK food; poor service

Made our first visit to this brewpub tonight. The food was good; better than average pub fair. The service was poor though. Our glasses were empty when our food was served but our server didn't even ask if we wanted another beverage. We had to hale the manager to get more drinks. We were never offered anything else. Deserts; coffees. Zip.To rub salt in the wound, our server started to make small talk with us when we were paying the bill. The way to be friendly with customers is to give them good service through the course of a meal. FYI: the Trip Advisor price range for this local is out of date: it's much more expensive.

Okay Food

We had dinner at Longwood Brew just before catching the ferry back to Vancouver. We researched top burgers in Nanaimo, only to be disappointed. Service was okay, had to waive our waitress down a few times. But the food was most disappointing. Ordered the Longwood Burger and Cheeseburger... both were over-charred, dry and not flavourful. The beer was okay. Overall disappointing and mediocre experience, sad this was the last meal on the island after such great experiences this weekend.

Good Service Bad food

We ordered a burger and a Stout pot pie. The food came in a timely fashion but the fries were already cool...plates were cold. The burger was mediocre. The Stout pot pie was the worst we had ever had anywhere in the world. It was supposed to be steak and mushroom. There were four 1cm cubes if steak, a lot of mushrooms and nasty tasting gravy that must have had at least 1/2 cup of sugar in it. The gravy for our fries was tasteless except for a lot of sugar....Try Trio from Costco...better than that by far. We ordered IPA and Irish Ale. Both were weird and flat. We drink craft beer everywhere we go. This couldn't come close to any of them and was not cold enough. Had it not been for our lovely servers we would give this place a " terrible" rating. Yech!

Disappointment

Our server was pleasant enough but when she took our order for our meals and drinks, she returned with our drinks and asked if we were ready to order our food????? (she had already forgotten that she had taken our order on her notepad!) NONE of the servers or kitchen staff wore face masks. When she served our meals, she leaned over my husband and sister from the end of the rectangle table to hand me my (hot) plate instead of putting it on the table from beside me. The food (steak sandwich, fish & chips, and Longwood burger) was lukewarm, at best. When I mentioned these things to the manager on our way out, she remarked that "this is the way we do it here so that we don't get too close to the customers". So, I guess not wearing masks, leaning over the other members of our lunch party, and serving sub-par food is OK???? Will not return here , and would NOT recommend this as a place to enjoy!

Ordered fried halibut & chips dinner, light batter. The delivery was really quick. We received mushy, shredded fish in a thick smooth batter and a mix of over/under cooked fries. Our reaction? Disgust that we paid for such an expensive, inedible meal. One we won't repeat at this restaurant.

Excellent dinner

My wife and I began with flights of their excellent brews then enjoyed halibut & chips and cod & chips with pieces of the mango & coconut cheesecake - all excellent. We called ahead for a reservation - early evening, 5.30-7.00, is their busiest time. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. Price for everything was a very reasonable $90 (before tip). Children are allowed in the restaurant section but the related menu options are limited (see their menu online). The restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible.

Delicious Food

First time here for us. Our waitress Tabitha was very pleasant and helpful. She recommended the Chicken Carbonara and oh boy was she right. It was DELICIOUS!!! All of the food was yummy and with the tables distanced it felt very cozy and not over crowded. Would highly recommend!!!

Never disappoints

As always the service, food & beer is top shelf. The Steam Punk (Dunkel) is a great way to unwind after a hard day. Our server Elise (sp), always cheerful and never late with another top up. We had wings and 1/2 order of natchos, the full size order is really mouthful. Do yourself a favour when in Nanaimo, come check out a local tradition.

Fantastic service on short notice

We sporadically arrived at Longwood Brew Pub as the restaurant across the street had a long wait. It was clear there was no room for us at Longwood but the wonderful hostess seemed to huddle with the manager for a while, and they pulled some strings to squeeze us in on short notice. It was a great table in front of a beautiful fireplace. The server was fantastic and the food came out very quickly. The chicken wings appy was perfect, and our food - the Carbonara and Halibut and chips - was top quality. Loved it. Left a big tip as they deserved it. A+

It's great that we can dine out on decks and patios during these trying times. The staff do a great job with the protocols. And as of yesterday the daily specials are back! I town both days so stopped in. Yesterday soup of the day with a greek chicken wrap. Very nice. And today a shrimp and salmon crepe. Equally as good. The staff are incredible. A regular lunch stop.
