Good Bar/Restaurant with Good Service and Decent Food

I walked over from Hyatt Place for dinner, as this restaurant seemed to be more legit and has a more impressive menu. I was not disappointed at all. The cocktail menu was good and my steak dinner was good. Service was fine and the restaurant served the attached Applause Hotel, but judging from the number of cars parked outside, locals seem to come for food and drinks too. If you don't mind a short walk or driving over here, Tonic Kitchen is a good restaurant near Calgary Airport.

A delightful place for breakfast

My family and I had breakfast there after staying at the airport hotel for one night. We were in a rush. Out server, Mary, was extremely helpful in serving the food quick and offering to pack our unfinished food and drinks. A delightful morning with lots of smiles and a full stomach.

Very good food and great service

The bar is bright and cheerful, located in the Clique Hotel. It's a busy place, and seems to be a go-to for many in the area. We were served quickly by a very pleasant server - we settled on a Chicken Tikka and a signature burger along with a couple of happy hour beers. The food was very tasty, hot and well presented. Our beers were both good and we enjoyed ourselves despite the yahoo with the braying yap at the bar. It's a pity some folk aren't fitted with a volume control.

Chairs and tables here were odd, tall Chairs short tables. Service was OK although people came in after us got served before us. Cocktail was good. Meals....just food I'm afraid not really tasty - teriyaki salmon with rice & veggies. Couldn't really taste the teriyaki. Veggies.....broccoli was very aldente to almost raw. Steak sandwich medium was very undercooked & sent back, it was tough both times. Not somewhere we'd return or recommend.

A great restaurant option near the Calgary airport

This was our third time dining at Tonic and it did not disappoint. The food was very good, service was friendly, and the atmosphere on a Friday evening was lively. The restaurant is located very close to airport hotels, so is an excellent dining choice for people who want to have a meal after arriving in or before leaving Calgary, though it seems to have a good local following, as well.

Very disappointed. We decided to visit the restaurant for dinner and breakfast during our overnight stay here. It would have been better if I hadn’t have read all of the glowing reviews. My expectations were obviously too high. Dinner was okay. The service was good. The prices were reasonable especially for my glass of wine. The menu was very meat heavy but I guess that is to be expected in Calgary. My tacos were edible but mostly consisted of deep fried fish and tasted like they had been pre made. All in all not to bad. Since there weren’t any options that looked better on our route the next morning we also had breakfast here. We encountered hands down the absolute worst service ever. There were two waitresses and two tables of customers. First, the waitress asked if I wanted cream and/or sugar in my coffee. She arrived with black coffee. Then when prompted asked if I wanted sugar as well. Worse, the coffee was lukewarm. I ordered oatmeal with the sautéed apples and my oatmeal arrived without the apples. I said just to forget it as I didn’t feel like waiting any longer. At the end, the waitress unprompted brought the cheque and explained that she took the coffee off the bill and half of the price of the oatmeal. This was irritating as well in the sense that after hopelessly bad service she seemed to think that the restaurant should take the hit rather than her tip.

We recently had a very early breakfast at this restaurant, as we had to catch a plane. We were so pleased that the server took our order immediately, as soon as the restaurant opened at 7 a.m. and the cook prepared our order immediately. The breakfast was delicious and the service was excellent. It was a great start to our day.

Surprisingly Good Value at Tonic Kitchen and Bar at the Clique Hotel

We stayed at the Clique Hotel adjacent to Calgary Airport for one night before our flight back to the UK. The hotel restaurant was operated by Tonic Kitchen + Bar and we were pleasantly surprised by the Quality of the food from the varied menu, the price, and the friendliness and professionalism of the waitresses and staff. I would highly recommend this establishment!

After an amazing first day breakfast our celebration was put to the test. 1. My wife and I were seated at a dirty table by a young waitress after she clears the dishes etc 2. Elderly waitress comes and asks to take our order without acknowledging us( which is no big deal) 3. We ask for tea and the elderly lady brings it and walks away. 5 minutes later she comes near by and we ask for cutlery eg tea spoons, sugar, cream 4. We order food and she brings it and sets it on table and no word. 5. Bad day for sure, the creamer is stale ( Only time she apologizes) NB not sure if it was the coupon that set her off. We were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary and we just wanted a good time.

Excellent food and service!

I had a business dinner here and it was fabulous! We ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread, the beef vindaloo and the salmon. Everything was beautifully prepared and delicious. Tonic is definitely one of the best restaurants near Calgary Airport. I highly recommend this place.

The in room dining arrived in a plastic take out container. Had to request a proper plate and cutlery, as the plastic cutlery would not allow enjoyment of the steak. The rib eye steak was done to order and was very tasty. Wine came in a plastic cup, not proper wine stem ware.

Mary is a wonderfully friendly and helpful server at breakfast !!! I was so happy to catch up with her as always. She along with Ilona the shuttle bus driver are always the highlights of my stay at the Hotel Clique. The food at the Tonic Kitchen just keeps getting better and better!!! The cooks are extremely talented, the BEST yet. The featured burger & salad last night and the French toast ( cinnamon swirl brioche), eggs, fruit and fruit/yogurt smoothie this morning were absolutely heavenly !!!

Six of us had dinner here on our last night in the Calgary/Banff area and we all enjoyed our meals and the service was amazing. Patricia was our server and she was very accommodating and very pleasant. Thank you for making our last evening a pleasant one.

Best hotel yummy restaurant

Location: Inside hotel Clique, 7 mins away from Albert’s airport. Open to all, even non-hotel guests. Covid Measures: Entry requires double vac verification with ID. Masks worn on site, unless eating/drinking. Costs: Affordably priced! They have daily specials for $12-excellent deal with great tasting options. And happy hour daily from 3-6pm for $5. Taste: Yummy! Had the onion soup, Cheescake, club sandwich & fries. Very good. Also had the wings, but regretted getting them baked, maybe the original way would’ve been better! Staff: Wish I knew her name…she was a Waitress Angel. Very caring & accommodating. She displayed the true meaning of exceptional customer service, always making sure I was ok. (She worked on Sept 17th around 3pm) Future visits: Most definitely!!! Cleanliness: 4/5.

Mediocre Lunch

Son had poutine which was quite small, the gravy is interesting tastes more like bbq sauce, nachos were bland with barely melted cheese and guacamole that was obviously premade (container), we also had a burger it was good. Food was very processed. Service was lovely and prompt but overall food was mediocre for price. Would not go again.
