A faded star of what it once was, Rajdoot no longer lives up to its name (Royal cuisine) or reputation. The buffet was a step above fast food, but only a step. Ok value for about $20/person but sadly, I can no longer recommend.

Authentic decor, good food, good service, reasonably priced. Limited dinner buffet selection so I did not give it 5 stars. The Mango Lassi was a bit too sweet for me but I tend not to like sweets. This is one of the few Indian restaurants that has a regular dinner all you can eat buffet. Most of them only do this at lunch. I am a lacto-ova vegetarian and I found lots to eat!

pleasantly surprised

I was not very excited when I looked at the selection of items they had in their buffet but I was pleasantly surprised to say that quality reined supreme over quantity. They had a small'ish selection but a very high quality one. Everything tasted very authentic Indian and it was delicious. I would definitely visit again.

Delight in Authentic Indian Cuisine & Fusion Flavors with Outstanding Ambiance and Service - A Must-Visit for Great Food

Rajdoot Restaurant, now under new management, offers a wonderful culinary experience. The ambience is great, the staff is very hospitable, and the food is a delight! The Kumar brothers were fantastic, especially Kumar, who personally greeted us and explained everything in detail. We were saddened to hear that they stopped the buffet, but Kumar informed us that they have introduced Veg and Non-Veg platters (Combo Thalis) instead. Kumar was very kind in explaining the combo platters, which are even better than the buffet. The Non-Veg Combo had so many items: veg fritters, butter chicken (the best I've ever had), dal makhani, mixed vegetables, raita, papadam, rice, naans, and a sweet-bomb (very sugary but tasty). The food was freshly made, and the portions were sufficient for one person. Kumar mentioned that they offer extra naans or rice with the combo if needed, which is a great touch. In addition to the food, they serve local draft beer, which is the icing on the cake. I will definitely be visiting Rajdoot regularly and recommend it to all my family and friends for fresh food, local beer, and excellent service. Five stars out of five! ⭐️

Rajdoot Restaurant is undoubtedly one of the best fine dining establishments in Calgary. Everything is on the mark: the food, drinks, ambiance, and service. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for an exceptional dining, drinking, and service experience.

Unexpected Delight: Exceptional Drinks, Food, and Ambiance at Rajdoot Restaurant

I had an incredible dining experience at Rajdoot Restaurant! The drinks were absolutely fantastic, perfectly crafted and refreshing. The ambiance was amazing and exceeded all my expectations, creating a wonderful atmosphere for a memorable evening. The food was delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor. Additionally, their collection of wine was impressive, offering a great variety to complement the meal. Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant!

Glad we stopped here

With lots of food choices on this busy strip for a date night, am very glad that we stopped in here. I found the Chicken Tikka of my dreams and a wonderful selection of local beers. Attentive & helpful staff who helped customize the level of "spicy" for me. Thoughtfully laid out floorplan - we were on a date night, but noted dedicated spaces for families across from a more private area for couples, as well as nice seating at the bar.

Best fish pakora in the city

Rajdoot Restaurant now under a new management is a wonderful culinary experience. Highly recommended for authentic Indian and Fusion cuisine. The ambience is great, the staff very hospitable and food itself is a delight !

The tip should not be taxed.

The butter chicken is delicious. Though keep in mind when you have a party of 8 or more there is a gratuity, which is fine. The tax on top of the tip is not.

Worst quality of food

Went with the family for dinner. We ordered an appetizer and three main dishes. It took them almost 90 minutes to serve us since they were filling takeout orders and did not pay any attention to us. The pakoras and tandoori chicken were not fully cooked. All the other dishes were totally flavourless.While eating appetizer my daughter found a small curly sharp metal piece in it. We showed it to the server who went to talk to the manger. We were expecting manager to come and apologize for the metal piece but instead the server brought dessert while we were about to leave and said it is complimentary from the restaurant. Very bad service and quality of food. I wouldn’t recommend it.

One of the worst!

Don’t eat here if you want fresh, authentic food. I’m Indian and know good Indian food. This was horrible. We ordered takeaway and ended up throwing most of it away. And had stomach upset next day. Did not taste fresh. Maybe recycled food from lunch buffet? With many other options for Indian food in Calgary, give this a miss. I never write such reviews but had to warn everyone else.

Was not expecting such yum food, I had been referred by a friend. Authentic atmosphere, with options. The service was excellent and not over powering, food was very good, one of the best I have had in Calgary. Certainly recommend.

Treated VERY well!

We have dined at Rajdoot many times and have always enjoyed their quality fair, however last night we ordered through Skip the Dishes and our meal was not up to their usual high standards. I phoned the restaurant to give them feedback and they immediately told me that I was one of a few customers that night who had not had a great experience due to their regular chef being away. Their refreshing transparency about the situation was matched with an offer to fully refund our bill through Skip the Dishes which they followed through with and even went to the point of phoning us the next day to ensure our refund was made - which it was. We will continue to dine at Rajdoot as their dedication to a great customer experience is very apparent. Well done to them!
