Lovely hidden gem, although slightly cramped in the bar area it does not take away from the great food. The peanut butter brownie is a must. Highly recommend. Definitely book in advance.

The trip to IOW was worth it just to visit this pub. Probably the best pub food I've ever had. The pies are delicious; even the smaller portions were sufficient for us and the profiteroles rounded off a superb meal at really good value for money. The fact that you need to book a table most days tells you how... More
Had lunch at the Pointer Inn a couple of weeks ago, four of us in the party. Note to self - go with an empty stomach next time! The food was absolutely delicious, both starters and mains. My only regret is that we had no room for pud. The pub itself is quite small but very cosy, and we were... More
My enduring memory will be that it was just a bit too full. The table I had reserved was not available until some 10 minutes after the time booked and there was nowhere comfortable to wait for it. When we did eventually get to sit down it took another half hour before anyone came near us to take our order.... More
Recently had a meal here with my family again, food was fantastic, nice to see the portion size has got better. Staff as always very polite. Definitely my favourite place to eat.
Down the road from my parents' house but the first time we have been here; possibly put off by choosing early or late sittings. So glad we got there in the end. Restaurant full so ate in the bar. The far end table was cozy wth corner sofa style seating. Quick drinks service , friendly staff. Good range of starters... More
Made one of our occasional visits to The Pointer .... it's a pub that never fails to please. It starts with a warm welcome ... we managed to get the last table available. Even on a not so warm and gloomy spring lunchtime, this village pub is packed to the rafters. Service was quick and efficient and we both opted... More
After seeing great reviews and the results of a local competition, we decided to try this charming country pub this Friday lunchtime. To our amazement, the pub was packed - even on a cold, blustery spring morning. We ordered the "Moo & Blue" steak pie with Isle of Wight blue cheese and a selection of vegetables. It was really good!... More
This pub is a must when visiting the island. Amazing food and plenty of it! It is recommended that you book if possible, as it is so busy you are not always able to get a table.
We stayed in Newchurch for the night on Saturday and reading the reviews decided to go to the pointer inn - pleased we did. The pub was welcoming on a cold night with a mixture of locals and tourists. We booked a table and recommend you do to, as it was busy. Had the filo pie and my wife had... More
