Reviewed yesterday NEW

Having walked a bit of the Monsal Trail we diverted over to the Packhorse for lunch. Having phoned first out table was ready and we got drinks at the bar. The beer was excellent and in peak (pun intended) condition. We don't usually have a three course meal in the middle of the day but the food was so good... More

This is a fantastic pub, warm & friendly from moment you walk in. Lovely rooms, real fire, 5 cask ales, excellent food. I mean really excellent food. Every pub should be like this. Wish it was my local. The venison burger was awesome. I love this pub.

The Packhorse was recommended by our B&B in Monsal Head, a five minute walk away. It has everything we look for in a village pub, great beer (I enjoyed Wild Swan whilst my husband tries a couple of slightly stronger beers)lovely atmosphere (no designer make over) and most importantly tasty and not expensive food. Everything you need after a day... More

I've visited the Packhorse Inn a few times and it never disappoints. From the fish finger sandwich to the cullen skink, everything is delicious. It's super tiny so make sure you book in advance if you're for an evening meal. Well worth a visit if you're in the area,

You pick up the culture or DNA of a place very quickly. On the way in the sign as pictured says "Kids, Dogs and muddy boots welcome" I know this sounds odd but I just New the atmosphere would be lovely. Very welcoming, we had a meal for six, the pub itself is like a throwback, open fire, quirky stuff-... More

After getting a little disappointed with a nearby local competitor the Packhorse was everything we hoped for. Good service, great staff, nice menu and food but most importantly, great atmosphere! Brilliant!

im a regular walker at Monsal Dale.but i dont usually walk down to Longstone that way. i couldn't picture where this pub was. my friends have been raving about the food and said the pub had survived being hideously refurbed and ruined in the interests of a more efficient interior or more covers. being a reactionary Yorkshire man i like... Always a smile and a friendly welcome in the Packhorse Inn. The food is good pub grub with a price tag to match. Would recommend.
