Ploughman's still not as I would expect. The ham if awful, its advertised as honey roast but it really does look and taste like Spam! Horrible...

Had a lovely family meal here. Restaurant was empty when we sat down at 5.30 but was really busy by 7. Lauren was lovely and really helpful. Unfortunately food was really slow to come out considering how empty it was when we ordered. Took an...hour and 10 minutes to get our starters. But food was amazing and very generous portions, especially the Caesar salad. Would definitely come back just for the pure quality of food and service.More

We have both been here a few times and absolutely loved the location the atmosphere and the food is to die for. I personally recommend the Thai style crab cakes and the roast dinner is none like we have had anywhere. Friendly professional staff 100%...recommend this place. It's our favourite now!More

Exemplary service from Brandon who it seemed was the only person serving lunchtime today. He can certainly multi task. He provided good recommendations as to the food on offer and also the wines served. Would very much recommend.

After reading reviews I was impressed & booked for myself, my husband & two of our friends for Sunday lunch. I booked a table for 16.30. At the bar I asked for a soft drinks menu & was told, "No we just pour them as...it comes" which was disappointing as later found the drinks menu with 'Mocktails' which I would have been more than happy to choose from! We sat at our table at 16.30, we waited & waited for a member of staff to take our food order & have another drink whilst we watched four staff laughing & joking around behind the bar. Eventually 16.50 the waitress came & took our food order. We were watching other eaters whilst they were waiting for their drinks & food neither of them were impressed, one couple said they had waited 45 minutes for a dessert! Finally at 17.40 our food arrived. My friend & I had a Ploughman's when they were placed on the table we were told they had run out of pickled onions & I had the last two which were nearly black, small & looked unappetising, my friend did not get any!! I asked what was in one of the ramekins & it was apparently coleslaw...it was raw onions & mayonnaise, not nice at all... The dish was advertised as including Honey Glazed Gammon which it wasn't, it was thick cut processed meat & tasted similar to pork luncheon meat which was horrible & my husband ended up eating it as I was put off. I had to ask for a side plate to remove the tonne of leaves from my plate which filled the side plate in a heap! The ciabatta was nice, the pork pie was at room temperature & we were expecting it straight from the fridge as you would. It was busy the staff were in & out of the kitchen but what was off putting was many of them came out chewing food, one served a customer whilst putting food in her mouth, another came out picking food out of her teeth then proceeded to serve drinks without washing her hands....I don't think we will be returning, it was not a good day for usMore

My first visit since pre lockdown days, as a guest of my children for Father’s day lunch. They had the foresight to have booked in advance which was very easy on line so they tell me. Friendly greeting once inside with booking confirmed and shown...to our table and handed menus while waitress took our non-alcoholic drinks order The drinks arrived promptly, too quickly for us slow coaches we were yakking away & had not even looked at the menu. Being Sunday lunchtime the menu concentrated on roast dinners but there were other options, such as fish & chips, or in my case a Ploughman’s. The other two chose a Vegan nut roast with normal roast dinner trimmings I noted the fish & chips gave option for a smaller [cheaper] portion, and there were children’s options available I never timed how long it took for our meal to arrive but we had plenty to talk about so were not watching the clock. There seemed to be enough waiting staff to cope so they were not rushed of their feet While we waited other customers arrived, some with young children and I noted high chairs were supplied My Ploughman’s was excellent and included a pork pie as well as ham & cheese, pickles of course. I had to ask later for English mustard but that was my oversight because I’d neglected to ask when the food arrived although waiter did enquire if we needed anything else. The mustard promptly arrived in a small dish The two very full plates of Vegan roast were cleared and enjoyed but the Ploughman’s beat me and I was asked if I wanted to take the bread home, because I’d run out that morning I did and it was placed in a sealed take away container for me The only part of my meal I was not keen on was the pot of coleslaw, just not to my taste so left that. The pork pie was superb, and the pickled onions were not ones I had come across before, dark brown, soft and sweetish, maybe in balsamic vinegar? In fact I initially thought they may have been figs but they weren’t. I’d buy a jar if I knew where to get them To summarise, excellent food, nice atmosphere, helpful and polite staff, easy parking. However it’s not designed for the five pound burger meal deal folks so take a full walletMore

This was our 3rd time at this pub while down visiting family and have to say its still 1 of the best catered for all our family from fish & chips & pie to more ala carte things so I pushed the boat out this...time and went for the pan fried rillette of pork, black pudding fritter & crushed potatoes amazing 😊 my son was very impressed with the vegetarian dishes available, service was very attentive and always polite the barman Simon very knowledgeable so all in all very good evening Many thanksMore

I visited on Tuesday with a large party of 10, Lauren was the young lady looking after us. She made our visit 10x more enjoyable and always greeted us with great enthusiasm and a contagious smile. She was extremely accommodating with some of our guests...and their dietary requirements and she was very knowledgeable with the menus and drinks served. She is one amazing waitress and speaks very highly about the business and she shows a lot of passion towards her job. The food received was exquisite and cooked to perfection, all dishes were amazing value for money so hats of to the chefs that evening. We will defiantly be returning and we have told many of our friends and family about our visit.More

After a recent visit, my family and I left extremely disappointed. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a lady (presumably manager) with a poor attitude and overall lack of customer service, this was also apparent with a lot of the staff members. We waited an...hour for our food and when it arrived it was dire (see photos). The roasts tasted like they had been cooked yesterday and stuck in the microwave, roast potatoes were dry and stiff, yorkshire puddings were like frisbees and overall just poor. My father ordered the fish and chips, or just batter so it seemed with a dehydrated fish, chips were rock hard and hollow- extremely over cooked. When the food came, we asked for cutlery, to which we were told that it was in a box on the bar- would've been nice to know, quite literally it was just cutlery in a box with no serviettes. If we weren't so hungry, we never would have eaten the cold and all round awful food, nor spent the ridiculous price. Won't be returning.More

We visited for lunch, as we have done many times over the last 20 years. The pub had fewer than 20 customers yet we had to wait 20 minutes for bread and olives, and a further 45 minutes for the world’s driest veggie burger and...fries, and lukewarm, tasteless fish and chips. We ended up leaving quite a lot of the food and we’re normally empty the plate people. This was our second visit this year and we won’t be returning. It used to be one of our go-to places for a good meal and relaxing drink but, in the last 12 months, the quality of both food and service have markedly declined.More
