We've been visiting for 12 years and I used to visit in my late teens, when it was just a country boozer. Try the Brick Kiln Bitter, which is brewed behind the pub/restaurant by West Berks Brewery. I've only ever found this beer in one other pub, so it's pretty exclusive.

This used to be our favourite gastro pub. It was authentic, serving locally sourced game long before that became fashionable and had a genuine rural location and outlook to die for. Mike Robinson was a great personality too, often regaling you with stories of how he had shot what was on your plate. The game was indeed the star. The... More

First visit to the Pot Kiln, what a great pub serving delicious food. I shared the roast Lamb which came with perfectly cooked vegetables, cauliflower cheese and some tasty gravy.

First visit to the Pot Kiln and blown away by the food. Good pub atmosphere but amazing fresh food. We had the gravalax followed by the slow roasted shoulder of roe deer (for two). Great flavours and amazing fresh vegtables. Good staff and well worth a visit.

Went there for the 1st time tonight and happy to say I was not disappointed in the least Now I really like Game but the wife is not too fussed. I had the Muntjac skewers to start, never had Muntjac before and was pleasantly surprised, they were not overly spiced but you could taste undertones of the Cumin & Coriander... More

We've visited the Pot kiln on many many occasions and it's one of our favourite places to eat ever. From Sunday lunch to a romantic meal to the amazing bar food to Sunday night pizzas - wonderful food in a wonderful setting. Cosy by the fire in winter and beautiful sitting in the gardens in summer looking out over Hawkridge... More

We visited today the celebrate my mothers 84th birthday, the food and service was excellent, it was really nice to enjoy a local menu that really minimises the distance from "Farm to Fork" in particular the whole family commented that the starters and mains were nicely prepared with appropriate portion sizes (quality over quantity) my venison pie was to die... I have had this place on my list ever since seeing Mike Robinson on some food programme about 15 years ago. As we live near Bristol, it's a bit of a hike to go there for a meal, but this year my husband treated me for my birthday. We stayed at the Royal Oak in Yattendon and walked the mile... More

Enjoyed a late Sunday lunch today today with my wife. We were blown away by the quality of the food. At first we were a little disappointed with the number of options on the menu; the majority of roast dishes were for sharing which although fine, it's nice to have the option of ordering separate meals too. My wife and... More

My wife and I have wanted to have lunch here for some time, so we booked for Christmas Eve. The bar area is welcoming and cosy and clearly well supported by locals and walkers. There is a small restaurant next to the bar with a half door between making it all feel a little more inclusive and open. The service... More
