The Cliff falls into the category of “experience” dining and perfect for a romantic meal. My wife and I made a reservation several months in advance and still couldn’t get a table before 9 PM so the demand during peak season is very high. Interestingly, the reservation confirmation strongly suggested showing up 45 minutes beforehand which, initially, we thought was odd. Given the lateness of our reservation and the close proximity to our hotel we arrived by foot at 8:15 and were very glad that we listened. We were immediately seated in some amazingly comfortable swivel chairs on a private balcony where were were able to watch fish jumping and swimming in a beautiful, isolated, illuminated cove while enjoying some killer cocktails. The time flew by and a short time later we were seated at a table with a different version of that same view (there were others not a fortunate) while we enjoyed a very good meal with exceptional service. If you can get a reservation and cost is not a problem this is a must do although I would probably not suggest this activity with kids (we have 4 teenagers) who would probably not have enjoyed it as much as we did. They weren’t with us this trip so not an issue. While this was one of the most memorable meals of our trip it never occurred to us to try and come back during this same vacation unlike some other restaurants we enjoyed. Hope this review was helpful and, if it helped you to make a decision, don’t forget to click on the helpful thumbs up icon just below.

Hubby and I were going for a walk from our hotel Club Barbados one Sunday morning. We turned left on leaving the rear of our hotel and walked for about 45 minutes and came upon The Cliff. Popped in just for a couple of the local beers. Hadn't realised quite how much of a reputation this place had until a few days after but it certainly explained the 50 Barbados dollars (including tip) for the four bottles of beer!!! Having said that the actual restaurant was extremely nicely situated with lovely views over the sea and the actual restaurant itself looked lovely - the staff were all impeccably dressed and there was nice music playing in the background. We were here around Lunch time on a Sunday and there were certainly plenty of people coming in for Sunday lunches. If you are used to paying normal London City/West End prices for a pint or a cocktail then the drink prices won't come as too much of a shock but I did hear that the food is really quite expensive too but I believe it is known to have some quite famous visitors from time to time so could be a good place to go people watching.

On a whim we decided to book for dinner one evening during our stay in Barbados. Whilst it felt like we almost needed a second mortgage for the experience, the views, food and service (on the whole) were exceptional. We had a table overlooking the waters edge which was perfect. The wine was actually quite reasonably priced and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. We arrived a little early so that we could enjoy sunset and drinks upstairs before eating. One criticism around our arrival. My husband needed to break a note to pay our driver and asked the bar staff to help. They point blank refused saying they didn't have any notes available. How can a restaurant of this caliber not have cash available nor offer a guest expected levels of assistance? Not a great first impression. Apart from that particularly unhelpful member of staff, the service was great. I'm very glad we went.

Over the years we have eaten here and every time we have a reservation I am less excited to visit the Cliff. The setting is absolutely beautiful and the food had historically been amazing! Why I generally do not like visiting is due to the very cold and snotty reception you receive upon entering the restaurant. The hostesses and and greeters have no warmth and make it seems as they are doing you a favor by allowing you to dine with them. Then God forbid you arrive a few minutes past your reservation time as they will tell you when they need your table back for the next seating in a very rude manner. Our reservation was for 7 persons at 6:30 pm and were placed at a table more appropriate for 5 persons. They will not move your table or place you on waters edge even if you ask. I'm not sure how they determine who gets the lower level water tables although we didn't even though they were all empty at 6:30. When we ordered we had several food allergies and after the waiter took the order I went to confirm with him the allergies and he was very abrupt with me and was borderline rude. He then returned two times to reconfirm and he came back with a very warm approach and smile as I think he realized how inappropriate his earlier response was. Overall the food was ok and not what it used to be. I couldn't give it above average and I had the long standing menu item of the carribean shrimp which was not like it was over the years. Overall it was a very expensive meal in a beautiful setting and average food quality at best. This is no where near what it was like in its hey day!! Many other better spots to visit on the Island at a more reasonable price and warm welcome. When we left once again the greeters and hostess never expressed thanks for our visit or a general comment on how was your meal. Just plain cold on entering and exiting! Not worth visiting.

Beautiful restaurant with good food, BUT...I can not recommend this restaurant as it was very expensive for what we received. In order to make reservations, they require a credit card and tell you that if you don’t show, they will charge you $150 USD for each person. This is also the price for each meal per person (minimum) which includes a starter and a main dish, dessert and wine is above that

The evening started well. The ambiance is breathtaking; the building is built into the cliff at the oceans edge, billowing ceilings, candle light and Game of Thrones type gas lit torches everywhere. We arrived to see the sunset and enjoyed the delicious pear, vanilla and wine coolers. We wish we had ended our night there and had dinner somewhere else. It’s a set price menu for an appetizer and entree with many choices. The servers do a nice job but only the managers take the order, when asked why the answer was to make sure it’s done right. Nice way to empower your servers. We ordered the oysters which were delicious sans the two with lots of raw onion. My scallops were sandy thus inedible. The manager came and apologized and said she would tell the kitchen ( I guess to clean them properly). Next came my tenderloin ordered medium which was served very rare. A good even the not so good chefs know by touch what the temperature of the meat is. No one paid attention to the meat. When this occurred at an equally priced chain Morton’s, the entire table was cleared and new meals made correctly so everyone can eat what they ordered together. This was not offered. I told the manager I was upset and she then said she’d bring my daughters plate back when the server returned with mine. My daughter said if your going to put it under a hot lamp I’ll keep it and the manager said we will make you a new one. Upon return that’s not what occurred.

We booked dinner here to celebrate my birthday. We saw such positive reviews, that I expected something absolutely spectacular. Let me start off with the positive first. The setting is beautiful and the restaurant very well appointed. Great for pictures. Unfortunately, the good stops there. Upon arrival for our 6pm dinner reservation we were told we needed to be done at 8:15 or else we needed to move downstairs to another area. I have never been to a place that charges $400 for a meal where you had a time limit before you sit down. And to add insult to injury, we were not seated at our table until 6:25. Does the clock start at 6 or 6:25 when you actually seat us?! Secondly, we asked for a table closer to the water than the one that assigned to us because it was a special occasion. They conferred with someone and came back and told us all the empty tables (there were at least 10) were pre-requested. So we said fine. But here’s the kicker, we left at 8:15 and a few of the tables were still empty! Thirdly, the price. I mentioned it before but the prices were WAY too high for what I would say was good, but not great food. Lastly, the air of everyone in there is as if The Cliff is on the list of the world’s greatest restaurants. They are not. And if they are, they should not be. I will say, we have traveled the globe and eaten in a lot of places. Some amazing, some average, and some bad. It’s rare that I write a review such as this - even for the bad ones. But I felt really compelled because what they advertise vs. what they are is so different. I just want you to know what kind of place this is before you book a reservation: Pretentious, overpriced, and disappointing.

The location is stunning. We loved watching the turpin swimming around in the flood-lit waters below us, with a super yacht moored beyond, to emphasise that we were dining somewhere really rather special. The service was friendly, attentive and timely, neither rushed nor too slow. 5 blobs so far so why only an average rating? Because dining out must surely be about the food, especially when this is costing £145/ head for 3 courses (including the obligatory 10% service charge and excluding drinks). When my starter arrived, the pork pancake was no more impressive than the wrap I get at work in the Smiths £3.99 meal deal (and that includes a bag of crisps and 500ml bottle of Pepsi Max). That’s not to say it was bad (I love the £3.99 meal deals), but surely at these prices I should expect “very good” and probably “excellent”? My fellow diners’ Linguini was only a little better, and not remotely approaching the sort of quality one gets at Nathan Outlaw and other restaurants that I have dined in charging this sort of money. My main course was so unmemorable that, only 2 days later as I write this, I cant remember what is was (so it was at least better than the pork pancake that was memorable for being so outstandingly ordinary) and the Mille Feuille pudding was in all truth really rather good. The alcohol is not unreasonably priced but the wine list only extensive if you like Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay whites, starting at around £33/bottle including service. So come on Cliff, sort your chef out, get Nathan Outlaw over to teach you how to cook decent food (please don’t keep him) and it would be an easy 5 star rating

Others may also review the evening of January 25, when gas was out on the west coast and most restaurants in the area had to scramble. This was our experience at The Cliff: We were dropped off by taxi and greeted at the entrance with the bad news. They offered to rebook us for another night (not possible) or to serve what was available from their cold menu plus dessert. We had already driven over half an hour to get there so decided to try and make the best of it. After being seated and ordering cocktails our server, or perhaps a manager, came by to explain what was available. It turned out to be only about seven of the 40 or so menu items. The Cliff is pre fix pricing normally, so we asked what the adjustment would be under the circumstances. She seemed flummoxed by this question, and said she would have to speak with the owner. A few minutes later the answer came... no change in the price! In other words, we would be paying $140 each for a few apps and dessert. This was The Cliff’s way of dealing with customers in a difficult situation. Contrast their behavior to Cafe Luna at Little Arches Hotel, where we were staying. When we (naturally!) left and headed back in their direction, they offered to keep the kitchen open until we arrived. We were greeted warmly and had a fine meal. The Cliff may well have excellent food. But there are those that prioritize their customers and those that prioritize themselves. In our case, at least, The Cliff sadly proved to be the latter.

As a returning dinner guest at the Cliff over the preceding 25 years, the dining experience has always been a bit hit and miss. Added to this, there was (a now resolved) issue of the odour of sewage pervading the restaurant from the adjacent creek. Dining with friends recently, we arrived early for an aperitif; well-constructed and presented cocktails and a selection of local craft ales, of which, the Bajan Brew House pale ale is recommended. The food and service were excellent (although the staff appeared generally unhappy and a little stressed), with each of our large group enthused by their experience. The evening is at the extravagant end of budget expectations; with an aperitif, wine but no desert or coffee, expect to pay BD$350 per head. There are many flights of stairs from the entrance to the restaurant which may be challenging for those with restricted mobility.

I was planning to book a table here for a special dinner however after emailing reservations to book I received a very curt reply from a Shernelle. I emailed again to ensure that they had understood my booking request as they had offered me everything I had not asked for, and again, I received another quite frankly rude response. This is the first negative review I have ever left on TA but I am outraged at their very poor customer relations. I would not recommend this restaurant based on their attitude to customers which needs to be addressed!

Fantastic night, appreciate its very expensive but felt the staff, setting, ambiance and, most importantly for a restaurant, food quality all made it, for me, a very special evening. Found all the staff to be friendly and unpretentious, which was a pleasant surprise, with a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ rounding off the evening perfectly. Would not, or rather could not, afford to eat here on a regular basis but as a special occasion would highly recommend it. Take in the setting and enjoy. Booking process simple and communication very prompt during organisation.

We’ve had some great meals over the last few days in Barbados, but this was not one of them. It was insanely expensive ($150US / person), and it just wasn’t worth it. The service was nothing special, and the food wasn’t any better than restaurants half the price. Save your money, ignore the top ten ratings list, and go to a place like Cariba.

Been in Barbados for a week now and heard so much about the Cliff, we had to take a peek. There is not much more we can add to what's already been said about this place - the service, the views and the whole experience is simply fantastic. To be absolutely fair the food isn't mind blowing, as someone who has travelled the world and also living London, the bench is really high. But it was yummy and zero complaints. This place is reassuringly expensive. Just like Cirque du Soleil; it has to be done, it's an experience, you will always remember it, and if you love it - you will return again. The staff were really friendly and accommodating- and there is a bartender who is a cool and commanding dude , you just wanna drink what he recommends. 5 stars. If you can afford it do it.

Having gone bust The Cliff has become the Quattro Passi or QP which means the menu is now straight up Italian, with no real Bajan or Carribean influence. As we all know the setting is amazing, with the restaurant over several levels set into the rock face leading down to the water’s edge. They have a live jazz band, who really are good and give the place a great atmosphere. The sofas on the terrace are a terrific place for a cocktail at sundown, and I would say that is the best thing to do here. The menu is standard Italian and you can get the same cuisine anywhere in Europe or the US. They say the pasta is freshly made but I have to say it seemed dried to me and the sauces were nothing special - I can cook a better king prawn tagliatelle at home. When we went (December’21) the service was slow, confused, and rather annoying at times. You would get better service at a Pizza Express in the UK, never mind somewhere in the ‘fine dining’ bracket. For Barbados it is on the pricey side ($700 Bajan for two people) and to be honest there are at least three beachfront places on the Island that have better cuisine and better service for half the price.
