Reviewed yesterday NEW

We enjoyed the fish and chips, the Victory ale was nice too, the very young waiters were running around us like busy bees, proving very efficient, the sun was shining bright and the scenery, the view over the marina, was real nice. We subsequently walked a bit on the beach nearby and had overall a very good time on Mersea... More

Arrived on a wet Thursday in May and friendly member of staff took us to our room which was perfect for the price. We really enjoyed our evening meal with Squid and Chorizo starters that was perfect followed by a Fish Pie for 1 and Rib Eye steak for 1 both meals were delicious as we shared. We found the... More

I went there to visit some friends, first time eating. And well ill be going back thats for sure! I had the bruschetta for starter and I'm not a fan of goats cheese so they changed it for halloumi and it is amazing full of flavour and a nice portion, my main was the chicken fillet burger suggested by alex... When we visit West Mersea, we usually head for The Company Shed or the Oyster Bar. This time we were staying in our Campervan with our two dogs, so we're looking for a dog friendly establishment. The Victory is one and we ate in the bar area where friendly staff took our order from the Restaurant menu. We stuck to... More

Across the road from the waterfront lies this fantastic pub. Plenty of seating outside for those hot summer months, should they arrive. Inside, a great restaurant and bar area. Wonderful friendly service by charming ladies when we visited. Nice selection of ales including, naturally, Victory Ale. Full of interesting flavours. Well worth a visit if you are wandering along that... More

It was Easter and a somewhat limited menu. I had the roast dinner which I really enjoyed and my husband had the pasta which he said was just ok. Service was very slow and it was close to closing time. But overall it was perfectly acceptable.

Thank you for your review. Glad that you enjoyed your roast but apologies for the slow service. No excuse but we had been incredibly busy. Hope that won't stop you coming back. More

We have been visiting The Victory for years, while we lived in nearby Colchester it was a regular place to visit and having now moved further afield (Kent) we came back to Mersea over the bank holiday specifically to visit this pub, which makes the writing of this all the more frustrating. As we were told on the phone the... More

Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your meal and that the service was slow. We were incredibly busy and the normal service time (as everything is cooked from fresh) is 20 minutes. The vegetables certainly aren't frozen, the only frozen vergetables that we serve are peas and chips, all the vegetables served with... More

We were a party of 6. We waited for an age to get a table for 6, when we did it took a long time to order the food. It arrived in dribs and drabs they forgot 1 of the meals altogether, so one of our party ate alone!! It was overpriced and not a good experience. We will not... More

Came here before our booking at the oyster bar. Ok place if your a tourist, but not that friendly. Wasn't impressed with the service, and that has put me off from returning.

Thank you for your review. I am surprised that you found our service and staff lacking, as you can see from most of our other reviews it is normally quite the reverse More
