Food was ok but sitting on the deck watching the whales made up for it. We were here in august of 2015 and it was busy and the service was very slow. But the kids could occupy themselves playing soccer in the yard and my husband and I could look out at the ocean and have a cocktail.

One of the pleasures of the Cabot Trail is the lack of the traditional highway fast food stop overs. We discovered the Rusty Anchor while waiting for our whale watching excursion in Pleasant Bay. The staff were very friendly and the decor was quaint and homey. But the big attraction was the outside patio. Sitting on top of a cliff... More

Excellent place, great food, friendly people and don't forget the views ! We sat outside, had to wait a bit but for that view we waited. We had the best seafood wrap of our lives! Our daughter loved the homemade soup and tuna sandwich, GREAT ALL AROUND FOOD We don't suggest to drive by, you will regret it !

I had crabs and lobster and were fresh and enjoyable. I was there after whale watching, and got a discount coupon from a tour company.

We stopped in the Rusty Anchor after a day of hiking based on recommendations from several locals. The recommendation did not disappoint. Easy to spot on the water side of the Cabot Trail. There is nothing fancy about the Rusty Anchor, just good food and friendly staff. Obviously they specialize in seafood. The lobster, crab legs and haddock were all... More

Rusty Anchor is in Pleasant Bay just outside Cape Breton Park. On a nice day, I would recommend eating on their outside deck which overlooks the water from a high bluff. The seafood is excellent. We recommend their Fisherman's Platter which has scallops, haddock, mussels and shrimp! By the time we arrived at the restaurant around Noon, the sun was... More

My wife and I stopped here for a late lunch on a day driving around the Cape Breton Highlands park. We had been in Nova Scotia for nearly a week, and I had yet to have my first lobster roll. Rusty Anchor's lobster rolls were delicious and very meaty. I was not disappointed.

If it's a nice day sit outside and enjoy the view. Great mussels and seafood. Lobster rolls. We always stop here when on the Cabot trail.

A good lunch stop as you travel through the National Park. Located at the far North of Cape Breton this was another good seafood stop. Normally you have to accept below standard fare when in parks, but this food was actually good. We each had a sandwich, I had a cup of chowder and drinks for about $45 US.
