The restaurant keeps surprising us every time we go. Great service, great food but by now I would except no less.

We go often as the menu is always consistently delicious. Ribs and chicken tacos are a favorite. Location is very close to the town center. No parking as most places in San Miguel so park a block away.

This is an absolutely outstanding restaurant. The setting is beautiful. The staff is trained as well as any I've seen. They're efficient, professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The menu is incredibly creative. Within our group of three, each indulged ourselves with an an appetizer, a "starter"...More

The weirdest menu that has ever existed, and the snottiest wait staff next to Quince. I never recommend it even though the building is nice, the mish mash of crappy chairs and tables is almost as strange as the menu.

So many restaurants, so little time. We passed this one by several times and noted we needed to eat there if we had the chance- highly recommended. On a whim we stopped in for lunch, shared a magnificent appetizer of short ribs and an entree'...More

I loved this restaurant. The food was yummy, the service was great and it was quite lovely sitting outside. I did not find the restaurant expensive at all. I think with two cocktails a glass of wine, appetizer and entrees it came to around 70.00....More

Great food and drinks. We were disappointed because it was hamburgers night. To our surprise we stayed and ate the best burger ever. All we did was laugh about coming to SMA and ate a GREAT BURGER.

I have been living in SMA for many years and The Restaurant is still my favorite place to eat! The food is fresh yet rich, simple but with complex tones. You can't go wrong for lunch or dinner at The R.

Lovely setting, attentive staff and wonderful meal. I was warned this was a very expensive restaurant, however, I found the meal to be a great value for what we received. The shaved brussels sprout salad was delicious. The short ribs were heavenly and we shared...More

Most restaurants include this tax in their prices...so you don't see it. It's up to them to pay it. The Restaurant puts this price on top of their prices, so you see this value added tax (IVA).

Description
THE RESTAURANT, housed in one of San Miguel’s most elegantly colonial settings at Sollano 16, opened in February 2008 featuring Chef Donnie Masterton’s world class cuisine. It is located just steps away from the main square of San Miguel de Allende, the prettiest and most restored/written-about Colonial city in all of Mexico. Offering a full bar, it serves lunch and dinner five days a week in a sun-dappled eighteen century Moroccan courtyard, as well as in their elegant dining salon.Serving global comfort good, THE RESTAURANT’s menu reflects the changing seasons with a focus on the simplicity of fine ingredients. The Chef collaborates with local organic growers, dairy farmers and ranchers to procure the freshest, highest quality and responsibly raised product available. Catering to today’s more experienced, adventurous and health conscious diners, The Restaurant will emphasize quality in food and customer service…as well as a more involved relationship with respect to our food and the land it comes from.
