We had dinner here but it really was only average, if that. My tuna was done in balsamic and rosemary and I didn't think much of the recipe. Perhaps because the fish was lukewarm when it arrived. Service was good to start but then they seemed to forget about us.

Zipolite has many amazing eateries but none are at the same level of La Providencia. The coconut shrimp and the goat cheese phylo apps are incredible.. all the main courses are amazing especially the various fish dishes....

At first, everything was according to our expectations since we had read such good reviews and had heard only good comments about this place. The owner was very kind when we arrived. The chef came to say hello and that he would be back in one minute. Then the cat came begging and the dog with its big sad eyes.... More

It's the same restaurant in a new location. It's nearer to main street and bigger now. The 'ambiance' is wonderful. As usual, the food is delicious and the service great! You can now pay again with a credit card too!

Excellent restaurant. The reviews are spot on. The place is no-descrip in daylight, but comes alive with chandeliers and other wonder ambient lighting in the evening. Nothing disappointed- stacked beet salad, tomato blue cheese soup, chayote soup and of course the prawns with coconut and mango sauce. Topped off with the sublime mango mousse. All four enjoyed their experience here.

We had dined at La Providencia twice on our last trip to Zipolite and did so again this year. The new location is more open and accommodating, and the food is still outstanding. Javier is a charming host. We absolutely loved our two meals there this year.

Everything is amazing - the appetizers, dinners, wine, service in an informal eclectic atmosphere. Reservation required. Highly recommended - so good we booked a second evening. The beet tower appetizer is to die for!!!!!!!!

We came here at the recommendation of our Air BnB host. Wow! The food was exceptionally good. The location is quaint and nestled in the jungle. The ambiance is equally exceptional. The coconut shrimp, which all other reviewers rave about, is a must--as are the goat cheese turnovers. The mango mousse is exquisite. This place is worth a visit if... More

My husband and I spent a month in Zipolite and dined at La Providencia four times. It is a charming restaurant in a lovely jungle setting, with gorgeous lighting, nice music, and a warm and generous approach to hospitality. We loved all of our meals but thought the stand-out dishes were the goats cheese turner over starters, which I can... More
