We went here for a Sunday dinner and it was the best we have ever had! Nice proper log fire and traditional country pub feel with friendly staff and good selection of beer and wine. We ordering full Sunday beef roast and it was absolutely perfect. Beef was beautiful, hot vegetables (not over cooked) new and roast potatoes done to... More

Bumped into this place whilst out walking on a weekend away. Only went in for a drink but the menu looked good so ordered a light lunch. Great food, the staff were really friendly and the prices were good too. Shame it was not Sunday because I bet the roast would be great (might get back there one day). If... More

First visit and read the reviews on how good Sunday lunch was we were not disappointed. Choice of beef, lamb and turkey which came plated with roast and new potatoes, parsnips and a Yorkshire pudding. Plenty of freshly cooked Vegetables served in dishes and very tasty gravy. Then the desserts, very good choice although we couldn't manage any, they looked... More

The Rose is a first class traditional country village pub. The food and beers are exceptional and in 2 years of eating and drinking here I have never had a bad experience. The landlord and landlady are very nice people and add to the true spirit of this hidden gem. You would be bonkers not try this place.

Visited for the first time, lovely warm and cosy with log fire. Staff very polite and accommodating, we had lasagne , faggots, ceasar salad and fish/chips . All good portions and cooked lovely. Followed by b+butter pudding , pavlova and icecream again lovely. Enjoyed by all. Will be back.

Having heard good things about the pub we were disappointed; although we heard rumours a staffing issue in the kitchen, so maybe it was an off-night. It needs work. On the positive side, the steak was good. Other fried food served, including the chips, was unappealing. A pie was served that was simple a stew with a pastry lid on... More

Hi there, MARKFOODIE, thankyou for your review which we take seriously. We note you did not specify when you visited, and that makes it difficult for us to ascertain exactly where the issue lay. Indeed we would have appreciated your comments `face to face` at the time in question, as it almost impossible to comment on your observations at a... More
