This restaurant deserves ones' attention. It's very up scale in appearance and service, but the prices are very reasonable. It advertises as 100% Yucateca food, but still has some gringo food, e.g. orange juice and toast. The juevos divorciados are excellent. Go there! You won't be disappointed.

We have read reviews that La Chaya Maya was past it's prime. That was not our experience. Wait staff was very accommodating and the food was delicious! Would recommend a visit!

The wait to get into this place was understandably a bit long, given its popularity and authenticity. Once in, we were seated at the back of the restaurant. The waiters came up, took our orders, and our drinks and appetizers were brought in within a reasonable amount of time. The food orders took a tad longer, but the quality and... More

There are 2 Chaya Mayas, the one in the colonial house on 55street is the nicer setting. Yucatecan food, not expensive. But I had better flavors and service elsewhere.

Cochinita public, sopa limon, marinated chicken and margaritas. Mostly touris but fair number of locals. Good service and good was exquisite. Sole complaint; dirty dishes left for long time on serving table. Waiter had to clean, bus table and serve.

This well-know Yucateca restaurant, located conveniently just a couple blocks from Merida's zocalo - Gran Plaza, is a must. Authentic Yucateca food featuring chaya - a maya herb - used in several of the dishes on the menu. I loved the chaya soup! And the Poc Chuc was also muy rico.

This restaurant was recommended to us by our Mexican friends who were there before. We have to say that we had only good experiences there. After our first visit where we enjoyed a portion of the best ever Huevos Motulenos, we came back again and again during our seven-day stay in Merida. The food is really tasty, really unique, and... I ate at both sites for this restaurant. Once at lunch and the other at dinner. Both meals were great, staff were very good and prices are excellent.

place is good but there is nothing extraordinary. Food is tasty in general although it is not authentic yucatecan food. Long lines and waiting is not worth.there are so many other better places
