Nicely located in the main square and seiged by ords of tourists and locals this 110 year old icecream and patisserie shop is a disappointment. After 110 years of activity they probably didn't learn anything about icecream or sweets. Nice place to sit down but if you want an icecream you are better of getting one from the 7ELEVEN next... Great place to try a cold sorbet it the day gets too hot, or you need a light dessert after dinner. It's not a touristic place as much as other restaurants and cafes in Merida, in fact, the place is celebrating its 110th year of business this year, and it looks like it didn't change much since tourism stormed Merida... I never miss going to this place for a authentic fruit sorbet every time I come to my hometown. This is without a doubt the best place to have dessert after a long walk in the downtown area or after a meal. The best are the Tamarind, Mamey, Dragonfly fruit and Zapote sorbets. They only offer fruits in season so... More

There is another listing, for Helados Colon, which refers to the same place as this one. It might be a good idea to have TripAdvisor check these two listings out and merge them into one. Ices here are fabulous by the way. Always fresh, local fruit flavors. Do yourself a favor and not order chocolate for crying out loud. Be... More

We tried different flavors of icecream to get an idea of the local flavors. My family enjoyed them all. My son ordered a second ice cream because he enjoyed so much.

If you are for a sweet, refreshing treat, go to this place and try the local shakes, fruit beverages, popsicles, ice cream and sorbets. Very inexpensive, tasteful and natural and seat, relax and enjoy the evening as the locals do.

We stopped for ice cream while walking the Paseo. The flavor and texture of the dessert were lacking in my opinion. I had a banana flavored helado and it was obvious they had used very over ripe bananas to make it. Not enjoyable at all. My wife had the chocolate flavor, and the flavor was a lot like a cheap... Self made and flavors unique. They are unique and a complete tradition at Merida. This is a must visit place.

We bought a few different kinds of desserts after meal and they were really good. I recommend the ice cream and milk, they are really good. Recommended!

A great way to cool off while enjoying the Paseo de Montejo Merida is one of the hottest cities in Mexico, and one of the best ways to cool off is with a Champola or a sorbet at this famous landmark cafe. Coco is their signature flavour. Great service. Wonderful outdoor location. Good value for the money. Not to be... More
