With some visiting friends in tow who wanted to try "Yucatan" food, Kantun was convenient and easy to get to. Nothing really wrong with the food or service. the fact is that you can try 5 or 6 places in Merida offering the same stuff, with different levels of decor and pricing, and you can´t really tell the difference. There... More

We came on a recommendation from our hotel staff. It was a short walk around the corner. We did not experience any of the slow service or other complaints noted in the other reviews, and were quite happy with our dinner. The only possible downside was the lack of adult beverages - but was only due to local elections, certainly... More

Small, cozy but modern place. Excellent service, friendly and expert. Their advise and knowledge of the menu is really good. But the food, wow !. Original local and family recipes. You have to eat from the dried pumpkin seed paste they serve you at the beginning (excellent) until the dessert.

Went here due to a recommendation from Frommers. It is on on 45 St. between 64 and 66. Food was very fresh and tasty. They give you complimentary appetizers and then you wait a lot. We were the only ones in the restaurant which made it pretty funny. Had great ceviche and fresh fish with garlic (mojo al ajo). My... More

This is supposed to be a Yucatecan food restaurant, but the chef does not seem to know how to cook it. I had arrachera (marinated slim steak) that was too tough to cut! I don't recommend you try it.

Although when I walked in the place realizing I was the only person in the restaurant I took a table trusting other people's recommendation. The fish filet was excellent and the food was very colorful and a beautiful salad that all made up for the fact I was the only person in their restaurant.

There are a lot of charming hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Merida where the food is delicious... but this isn't one of them. The meal we had was uninteresting, it took forever and the ambiance was akin to someone's dining room. And not in a good way.

This modest restaurant is between calles 64 and 66, on a quiet street. It is worth finding because the food is amazing, inexpensive and very fresh. We had fresh fish and pulpo with garlic that was so tender it melted in your mouth-- we were even able to order what we liked off of the menu. The service could not... More

This restaurant was rated well so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant was pleasant, air-conditioned and clean. We ordered the stuffed filet as recommended in some reviews or blogs. When the food came my order was correct, baked, but my wife’s was not what she ordered it was fried. She asked for baked which the waitress... More

Excellent fish. Fresh and flavorful. We had two entrees, three beers, one bottle of water and paid $230 (pesos, not dollars). Charming, English-speaking service. Preparation time is about 30 minutes. There were a couple of ants on our table, waiting for the food. Other than that, everything was fine. You go there for the food, not the ambiance. By the... More
