I ate at La Abuelita yesterday for the first time and I really enjoyed all the food I ordered. The soup was excellent - all fresh ingredients, tasted like homemade. I also had nachos which were tasty but a cheese sauce was used that I don't think was homemade, however, the nachos still tasted good. I ordered wings to go... More

This is a place that I go back to, partly because it's within in my budget -- but even so the food is a drawing card. I recommend the "tampiqueño" -- a tender slim Mexican steak served with breans, guacamole and enchiladas. The service is snappy and attentive.

La Abuelita is a family run restaurant that serves good if not great breakfasts, lunches, and snacks. It is quite a large space and tables go back to a garden area. The juke box can be a bit deafening when it's on, but otherwise the decibel level is OK. Soups and snacks are quite good. What I found to be... More

We ate here twice for lunch. We stumbled across this courtyard restaurant with lots of sunshine looking for a light meal, The first time we had their wonderful soups - spicy prawn soup with vegetables the prawns were plump and juicy. My husband had the chicken soup- equally satisfying. The second time going back by choice, we had the chicken... More

I ate here twice; the first time with two friends, the second time by myself. I would have given the place four stars for the first experience: the drinks were stiff and tasty, and the food was solid. The second time, however, the waiter seemed more interested in his cell phone than in serving tables, and two of my drink... More

I was in the mood for vegetables, as sometimes happens when traveling as it's hard to get balanced meals consistently. I ordered Abuelita's Salad, which had lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, tuna and a few other things. The dressing was really nice. I think everything comes with popcorn with salsa on it, which was new for me. It had a bit... More

I had dinner here on what was supposed to be my last night in San Cris. Although I had been at the mercado that day, and seen raw meat hanging outdoors, unrefrigerated and black with flies, I insisted that I wanted a rare steak for dinner. Needless to say, I did not get on the bus to Ocosingo the next... More

Most people stop walking after calle real de guadalupe stops being pedestrian and i think this explains the few reviewwsWe came across this place on the way to the basilica and had a quick lunch and came back the following evening. It is a budget place with a hippy/scabby devo but I would definitely recommend it for lunch as the... More

Description
Welcome to the restaurant La Abuelita , a place that will not go unnoticed in San Cristobal. Here you can enjoy delicious snacks and Mexican dishes in the best environment. Among the specialties of the house is the rubbish, the Chamorro Michoacan style, flank steak and wings to the devil. La Abuelita also recommends testing flavors brought from other parts of the Republic, as the mole enchiladas, San Pedro Atocpan or delicious hot chocolate, the neighboring state of Oaxaca.
