No view, inattentive service, food is nothing special and overpriced for what you get. Oversold as "typical" Oaxacan food. Living off an outdated Lonely Planrt review. Oaxaca has several better options

We had big expectations for the mole, and both we tried were disappointing. Not as much flavour as previous dishes, and a small portion of fish in the verde mole. Tamale was dry. The squash soup was delicious, and very nicely presented.

There were six of us for dinner at this interesting restaurant. Some of us shared dinners having first had appetizers. Molé seemed to be the popular dish in different dishes. Everyone enjoyed their molé dishes. Myself and another diner enjoyed the delicious squash blossom soup but were disappointed that it wasn't hot enough. The service was lacking. We were never... I don't know what happened but this place has really slipped. I had the squash blossom soup which came out cold and then the waiter disappeared. It made the squash flower inedible and the butter didn't melt. My husband's salad was ok but carmelized nuts were burnt rocks. Next course fish mole arrived cold. After complaining , owner snatched plate.... More

Food was nicely presented and the flavors were delicious. The noise from the street prevented much conversation. We will definitely return. The chef special of the day is a great value.

This restaurant was my first stop after leaving the luggage on the hotel, as it is on the way to the santo domingo chuch. It serves a variety of oaxacan dishes for you to choose, with the special emphasis to the moles available. They have green, black and yellow moles dishes (iirc) and at least the black one (the one... Excellent service, pleasant interior art, and very tasty fare at Olla. We enjoyed soup, salad, an entree, and desert - all good, and we will return, perhaps tonight!

Go for breakfast at La Olla - you will not be disappointed! They use local and fresh ingredients, and you can watch them make their tortillas. Their marmalade is so delicious. It seemed to take a little long to get our food, but it was quite busy. It's worth the wait!

We went three times to LaOlla during our visit to Oaxaca. The menu was varied, the atmosphere laidback, the service friendly, the prices very reasonable and the food was delicious every time. It is also in a very convenient location, good for lunch and dinner.

Description
This small, charming restaurant has a lot going for it. Located only two blocks from historic Santo Domingo Church, and within easy walking distance of the Zocalo, La Olla is very popular with both foreign residents and visitors as well as with locals. La Olla is one of the more trendy eateries in the city, and our spotless kitchen produces a wide array of traditional Oaxacan, continental, and vegetarian foods. We pride ourselves in serving the best quality of products available, and most of our produce is grown locally and delivered to us by farmers during the week. Our coffee is locally roasted and the foods we serve are extremely fresh. We bake delicious apple strudel, chocolate cake, oatmeal cookies, vanilla flan, and more on our premises daily! All of our creations are cooked to order, prepared fresh starting when we receive your order. We use more fresh fruits and vegetables to create healthful and visually attractive dishes than any other restaurant in Oaxaca. Delicious sandwiches are served on home-baked whole wheat bread, and we even make the mayonnaise in our kitchen. There is a wide variety of healthy drinks available, using unusual combinations of fresh fruits and vegetables. The main meal of the day in Oaxaca is eaten in the afternoon. A real bargain at "La Olla" is the "Menu del día" or "Comida corrida", a full meal which changes daily, for only $90 pesos served from 1-4 pm. It includes a freshly-made salad, followed by a soup, a choice of two entrees, with tortillas or bread, and finishing with a dessert or espresso coffee. Many typical Oaxacan dishes are featured, and for a low price you can experience traditional cuisine at its very best. There is also a full a la carte menu featuring a wide selection of dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The prices are moderate and the quality very high. La Olla is proud to display and promote artwork created by local, regional and international artists. Our gallery is open daily during restaurant hours. The art on display is available for sale, and the gallery selection is changed periodically.
