This restaurant offers great traditional food in a lovely setting. We had the enchiladas with two moles (negro y rojo) - absolutely delightful, probably the best moles we ever had. They have a large selection of craft local beers. We tried the Tierra Ahumada and were highly impressed by its chocolate and caramel taste. A great restaurant that deserves the... More

Friendly staff. Interesting beers. Trendy environment. One of the platos fuertes came before the shared entrada. They took it back... Amuse bouche of 'dog fish' rather tasteless... Dried shrimp entrada very salty and unbalanced. Signature chicken horneada 'Zandunga' rather tasteless/bland. Really don't see typical local characteristics. Pork meat with salsa de ancho and piña OK but nor special.

A very nice place with gentle service and very kind people. You can find here food from the Itsmo a region miles away from Oaxaca city, but as Oaxaqueña as anyone. Try the garnachas first, and then, ask for the estofado de boda, is a must; or maybe the mole negro -nevertheless you have tried mole before, this is very... More

We had dinner in Zandunga last night. Everything were delicious but for me the Best about the restaurant was the service. Go and enjoy some good mexican food with mezcal :-)

My husband and I happened upon this lovely restaurant one night after having waited about half an hour for someone to wait on us at the restaurant next door (Biznaga). As soon as we entered Zandunga, we knew we'd made the right decision by walking out of the first place. Our waiter at Zandunga was very personable yet professional. He... More

Having permanently located to Oaxaca, we have been to many restaurants in the Centro and nearby neighborhoods. Zandunga was a place that we have passed by several times, meaning to try it at one point. Tonight, we wandered in and were so impressed by several things: 1) The beautiful design and ambiance of the restaurant 2) The friendliness and overall... More

Many of the Oaxacans we spoke with raved about Zandunga. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed. The cocktails were watery, and the food was so-so. Perhaps we're just old and ornery, but the acoustics were also very challenging and it was hard to hear.

We ate here tonight. The restaurant is long and thin, but attractive lighting makes it comfortable and stylish. The service was fine, with good English language skills. There is no wine menu, but wines are available, all Mexican. There were 4 tintos (reds) available by the glass, one of which was a merlot, the rest blends. We have little experience... More

We reserved our table for 4 and were glad we had, since we otherwise would have had to wait. It's a popular place, with a pleasant wait staff, good Mexican wines, and an interesting menu entirely in Spanish. Another review that complained it caters to tourists seemed off the mark, since it lacked the menus in English that many Oaxacan... More

I ate at many of the restaurants listed in trip advisor over an 8 day period in Oaxaca. Decided to try this place because it was always crowded with the mixture of Mexican and non Mexican tourists. The food was from the isthmus of Mexico. Authenic but different than the usual Oaxacan cuisine which became repetitious after a while.
The food was different, with a lot of " I wonder how they make this sauce, dip, drink?" It was not fusion gitzy food that a lot of the higher rated restaurants on your trip advisor restaurant list present to the tourists.
