This restaurant offer a wide variety of Mezcales. You can taste them before choosing. The food has a unique style and composition, with flavors that will rejoice anyone. The Cochito is a gourmet choice that excelled my expectations. Certainly a place to have lunch or...More

Zandunga offers good food in a confortable, friendly atmosphere. Service was excellent. Staff was attentive, and offered good recommendations. Had a great introduction to the complexities of mescal, the local liqour made from the agave plant.

Everything was excellent. Our waiter spoke English and was very helpful. I had the best margarita ever (corona) I was told also had the pollo zandunga which was so much I gave my daughter the rest. The service was good. They were extremely busy but...More

Saturday night our rooftop reservation at another restaurant was wiped out due to the threat of rain so we wandered looking for another place. We only had a 20 minute wait and could sit at the bar while waiting. Dinner was lovely although it was...More

Very cool little spot, easy to stroll into. This street is full of great places to eat and we went to Zandunga because La Popular was full. Great place more on the pricey side but give yourself the pleasure when you're on vacation, right? Me...More

Really enjoyed the food and drinks. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were awesome! They offered a mezcal tasting and explained the different ones. The drink was absolutely amazing! We got an appetizer (not sure the name) but was very good. We ordered...More

I would have given Zandunga a 4 or 5 after the first visit but 2nd time around not so great. Service was excellent, great people there and well trained too. Ambience also excellent. My second meal was an indifferent chicken leg accompanied by a mash...More

We went here at 7:00 on a Monday night without a reservation. We were greeted warmly and got the last free table. At home, we hadn't quite acquired a taste for Mezcal, but this place's specialty was a Mezcal Maragarita. So... when in Oaxaca... that's...More

My wife's pork dish was wonderful - copious, flavorful, and reasonably priced. For 230 pesos, I got a small shredded beef concoction in a tin cup with two slices of white toast, two petite balls of white cheese, and a fluffy, unsubstantial lettuce-only salad on...More

Oh, i don't know. But worth calling or emailing them to ask. If not, maybe call their hotel to see if they can arrange something special.

Description
I ate at many of the restaurants listed in trip advisor over an 8 day period in Oaxaca. Decided to try this place because it was always crowded with the mixture of Mexican and non Mexican tourists. The food was from the isthmus of Mexico. Authenic but different than the usual Oaxacan cuisine which became repetitious after a while.
The food was different, with a lot of " I wonder how they make this sauce, dip, drink?" It was not fusion gitzy food that a lot of the higher rated restaurants on your trip advisor restaurant list present to the tourists.
