Most tours take you to the Tule tree so it is practical. Interesting and well taken care of you can take great photos. Maybe not worth the trip just for the tree but good if it's part of the tour. Pay the extra 1 usd to see it from the inside.

El Tule is one of the biggest trees on the planet. I insisted to go there as I heard great things about El Tule. When you get off the bus you can see it s majesty. 3000 year old or more, it is said that it needs so much water to survibe that it caused several issues to the neighboring... More

Staying for three weeks in El Tule you get to know the place well. It has great restaurants and a nice El Tule Food Market. There are small stalls were you can eat and drink. The set up is great people are very friendly and helpful. Every day you see the women preparing the food on there hot coal fires... More

My wife and I were on an all day tour that stopped here to see the tree. Now, this is Juan, BIG tree! Simply incredible in scope. The width of this tree will blow your mind. Very impressive. As an added bonus when we were there, I noticed movement up about 15 feet up the tree. I knew it was... More

we hopped on a public bus from the periphery or ring road of Old Oaxaca town. The bus cost a few pesos and it dropped us just outside the park which has developed around the tree. The park in itself is sweet, with animal topiary, pretty gardens, ice cream wagons and lovely for kids. The tree is like an apparition,... More

This ancient giant cypress tree is jaw-dropping due to its enormous girth. It is extraordinary to be near it. There is a small small botanic garden adjacent.

I've been here twice, always on a multi-stop tour. I was told to look for animal shapes in the roots of the tree, so that was the only thing that made it interesting for me. It's supposedly the widest tree in the world, but not worth a solo trip.

Seems every town these days needs to distinguish itself by being the top producer of gymnuts or being the gateway to some river or boasting the world's largest penguin. So no surprise that a town will latch on to tourist dollars by promoting their big tree. Not that it isn't big. It is. It also is conveniently on the day... More

What can I say?? This is one very huge tree - you will not believe it until you see it - and please do see it. The church on the same grounds and the beautiful topiaries in the garden are just cream within the cream puff. You will be glad you saw this majestic tree.
