I've been fortunate enough to make many trips to Mexico City. There are two (2) things I look forward to : eating at El Cardenal in Centro Historico and El Cardenal in San Angel. The food is top notch -- they know how to prepare and present food. The services is impeccable. I feel special whenever I eat at an... More

I had the "Cordero Manchamanteles". It was the best meal in Mexico City. We had to wait for half an hour to get a table, but it was well worth it. The place is beautiful too!

We always have at least one breakfast at El Cardenal when we are in the DF. The service is fast-paced and attentive, the tablecloths white and stiffly ironed, and the fresh baked cinnamon rolls not to be missed. Try the freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juices, all flavors, also the grapefruit cocktail. The menu is extensive and offers all sorts... More

Breakfast was eccellent. Service was below par, i.e. slow. Also the restaurant was noisy and the chairs screeched when moved.

Fine mexican food. Too bad every time we ask for tortillas they would give us only three tortillas at the time... for a table of 12. I've been in this Cardenal but also in the Cardenal at Ave. Juarez (at Hilton's). The waiters didn't treat us the same in every ocassion, once I went there (at Palma 23) with a... More

Our Mexican friend recommended this restaurant. It is in an old building with no fans or AC so it was pretty hot even though they opened the windows. The food was very good. The cheese with zucchini flowers was disappointing - too much cheese and not enough zucchini flowers!

It is an old fashioned building from the outside but, they have very good finishes and good furniture in the inside. They offer a varied menu, from Mexican to international to ethnic food. You will enjoy it.

We stopped here for lunch, having read about in our tour book and for a tourist destination it was quite good. I had the enchiladas Michoacán, the enchiladas were very good but it arrived with a mole sauce that I must say was ok not great, but I think that was my first time tasting a real mole, can't say... Most locals I talked to spoke highly about this restaurant and I have to say I was disappointed, it was full of locals don't get me wrong, the food is nice but it's not a jewel of the mexican cousine as most people described it to me, I personally think there are other places better and cheaper within walking distance.
