After a nice small meal, we attempted to buy a bottle of wine to take to the hotel. Without asking, they substituted a wine of double the price and tried to slip it past us. When we objected, they lamely said the original wine (on the list) wasn't available. Watch out and take your dining business elsewhere!

I am visiting this place always being in Coyoacan - with the groups, with friends and just alone. The meals are just magnificient. The athmosphere is welcoming and the staff professional and friendly. If you are not from Mexico and still don't know how to drink Tequila in a righ way (and the right Tequila) - ask for "Don Julio... More

We went with some work colleagues to have lunch and although the service was quite nice, the food was not good , I asked for some duck enchiladas and left half of the plate.

We stopped here for lunch and I felt like we were a bother to the restaurant. Service was slow and not much food for what you pay for. I had a salad that that half an apple and some lettuce and my husband had the tuna. It was okay but sort of a disappointment after the one we love in... More

I wasn't able to get a reservation while in Oaxaca, so was glad to see they had another branch here in DF. The service was excellent, the ambiance charming, and the food was very nice. They even had a vegan soup, which was a nice surprise, since, as a vegetarian, it's a little tricky to eat at upscale dining in... More

I visited with some friends which helped in choosing some nice food and Mezcal. Good choice of dishes, seafood and meat. Friendly attentive staff. It was a Monday so relatively quiet, but being on the square off the street, I can imagine it being busy at weekends. Nice place, very nice food.

Wonderful meal out in the front of the restaurant. Food was absolutely scrumptious. We had the salmon and it was outstanding. They have such different taste. If you want standard go to Ruby Tuesday. If you want delightful go to Los Danzantes.

On Jan the 2nd, my family and I went visiting Coyoacán as we like the environment. Had lunch at the Mercado and were looking for some cozy place to have dessert, coffee and a glass of wine. To my perspective, this place seemed to be a good choice. However, when I reached for the hostess explaining what we were looking... More

We were afraid this would end up being a tourist trap based on its location, but were pleasantly surprised. Except for one dish which involved lots of mushrooms stuffed in a huge bread bun (the bread was a bit too dry and the portion was simply too big, even for 2 people), everything we ordered was top notch. The ceviche... More

Great restaurant, cool ambiance. Ask for the "Vuelo Mescalero" a taste of four excellent Mescals. Dark beer lovers, ask for "Calavera" a Imperial Style beer. Two thumbs up. Ask for Levi for an excellent service.

Description
Founded in March 1995, Restaurant Los Danzantes is a study in contrasts: a warm colonial building constructed with volcanic stones and natural nopales surrounding it; a delightful bar carved by Joel Rendon and traditional tones of Mexican music set to a modern rhythm; and, of course, a menu that features regional ingredients shining out in fresh, innovative combinations and fusion cooking.

Staying in Coyoacan

Neighbourhood Profile
Coyoacan
Once you step into Coyoacán (“Land of the Coyotes”) you'll find picturesque parks and cantinas that will transport you back to the colonial era thanks to the brick and stone details of the area. Iconic writers such as Trotsky and great painters like Frida Kahlo seeked refuge and inspiration in this area, and you can see the unique spirit of this neighborhood reflected in its colorful market where nieves, sopes and all kinds of traditional 'antojitos' are a must try. Restaurants and cafés throughout its peaceful paved streets contain traditional but unique murals and decorations, where one can enjoy a mezcal at noon or the best churros with a cup of coffee.
