Looked enticing (clean, quiet location, friendly staff, appealing menu and prices) but the eggplant lasagna continued NO pasta. A bowl of tomato sauce covering a few fried slices of eggplant. I don't get it. The spinach salad was of a generous portion but the oil dressing was exclusively a thick oil that could have been 30 weight engine oil.

This is the proverbial hole in the wall: a few tables on the sidewalk, a few tables inside, an open kitchen and a single waiter. We had garlic soup (rich and creamy) and two versions of molé: one green and one dark. Both were delicious. We'd go back. Location a bit off Basilio Badillo is quiet but very easy to... More

I just love it when all my expectations are met and Bistro Balsamar, does just that. I love to support small family restaurants, and especially great ones. I recently ate there 2 days in a row because I was so impressed. Chef Alex really is an amazing creative chef, and the quality of his food is unsurpassed. I was surprised... More

I was looking for a place to eat and friend recommended trying Bistro Balsamar just off Basillo Badillo. I had seen the servers trying to entice people to come down for lunch and dinner but had never tried it till today. The meal started with a complimentary appetizer of quick fried cauliflower, I typically HATE cauliflower but this was delicious... More

We have been here all week and walked through this bistros tables several times. When we stopped to read the menu it was full of our favorite foods, enchiladas, sandwiches, marine offerings and vegetarian fare. I had the Coconut Shrimp. Huge portion 4 inch long prawns, perfect rice and steamed veggies. We will eat there again. Enchiladas pollo with Verde... More

If you want to experience great, regional Mexican food on a romantic, quiet side street just off the busy street (Basillio Badillo), then this is the place! We have been coming here every visit to PV old-town since we stumbled upon it in spring 2013! It's a family run restaurant with great presentation on dishes. Price is very affordable including... We happened by this very quaint Mexican restaurant. Food was very good. A little problem with the language. The food was great. We had the 3 entres starting with the Emoladas which smouthered in mole sauce. Fabulous. Great guacamole. I had the rather large porkchop which was done to perfection. We also tried the Chillies Nogada which were chillies stuffed... More

For some reason, the restaurant was not very crowded even though we are in the middle of a busy holiday week. 2 blocks away there were places with an hour wait, which makes no sense given the food quality here. We received a very tasty welcome of fried cauliflower and a dipping sauce. Next the black bean soup with crema... More

Food is always a delicious chicken notixa spelled wrong was delightful the starter of cauliflower done to perfection everything was definitely top notch as well as the service The only problem is that it is... Smallish place, but the food and service is excellent. Great little find. I went with friend and we tried a variety of dishes and all were very good. Great place in warmer weather as it is air conditioned. Have also eaten outside on street side tables also very nice.
