This place has closed. It has not moved. Unfortunately it is no more, a loss to Olas Altas area. Now there isn't really any good food to be had along that strip by the Sea. Mostly just bars. Sad

Just came back from dinner at El Faro - my husband had coconut shrimp and I had Imperial shrimp. Both were the best we have had this year, and maybe forever. Prices were excellent, service the same, and we walked away VERY full and smiling. Watched all the people on the malecon, saw a great sunset, and had a fabulous... More

My husband and I have eaten twice at this conveniently situated cafe in front of the Belmont Hotel. We had garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp as well as hangar steak. We enjoyed the shrimp and the accompanying vegetables and rice. I would suggest that the vegetables have a bit more crunch but tend to be overly cooked, especially the broccoli.... More

There were 6 of us when we decided to just pick a restaurant at random while things were gearing up for Carnaval in Mazatlan. We had just drunk our required "cervezas" to watch the sunset. The food we got was so surprisingly good it took us all by surprise. I had tacos which were done to perfection (carne asada) and... More

If you are looking for soup both the tortilla soup and the chicken consommé are great. The tortilla soup is served with the broth on the side so the tortillas stay crisp. The chicken consommé is chock full of chicken, rice and veggie. Yum.

In just a few short years El Faro restaurant on the Malecon has become a "go to" place for inexpensive quality food. Sitting outside looking out over the Pacific ocean or inside the restaurant is always a delight. The food is simple...no French sauces here. But, you will find a quality meal and a friendly staff awaiting you. The prices... More

I was so happy to see all the positive reviews about my favorite restaurant. I've seen folks eating there and enjoying it - so cool folks took the time to let everyone know about our local hangout and eatery. Cafe El Faro is easy to find. In Olas Alta - look for Hotel Bel Mar - or ask anyone.... There... More
