After having been a bit disappointed by the Carne asada I've had in La Paz (maybe not surprising given the skinny cows I've seen) this place had excellent arrachera. I had tacos that were exactly what the Doctor ordered (well actually Doc might advise against, that's why I don't talk to him anymore...). Definitely want to try more if the... More

The best margarita ever is the description from my cocktail connoisseur husband. Casual atmosphere and an easy walk from the Malecón. Big plates of good food but his margarita was the most memorable part of this meal.

Order a kilo or 1/2 kilo of grilled arrachera for the best tacos around. The onions, salsa, chilies etc are served on a lazy susan and tacos separately Make your own and enjoy. Add side of frijoles and beer and enjoy Mexico.

We had a great lunch and drinks. We only ordered two things and we had so much food, we were able to eat on it for several days. Service needs improving.

Yuk! We tried both the old Rancho Viejo a block and a half up from the marina, and the one on the malecon. Both were a big disappointment. We waited forever for service, they brought us the wrong food, and the food they brought was a disappointment. These guys USED to be good we're told, but these days they obviously... More

We have been coming to La Paz pretty regularly for 17 years. We initially found out about Rancho Viejo restaurant from fellow boaters staying in Marina La Paz. It is just a couple blocks up the street from the marina. We have been returning to this quaint "local" restaurant frequently ever since. They serve the best Arrachera that we know... More

I had the privilege of taking 6 people from the Princess cruise ship horseback riding November 14th. After they wanted a good lunch and air conditioning. I chose Rancho Viejo. 4 people ordered Chili Rellenos and raved of how good and how generous the portions were. We also ordered arrachera (flank steak that is marinated). The arrachera is always so... More

There are a couple of these, but this one is only open at night - fancier than the malecon partner that serves tacos. Very nice place
