We enjoyed an outstanding meal here on our first visit. The hotel is delightfully atmospheric and very comfortable - log fire, well-chosen furnishings and beautiful table settings. The staff were very charming and welcoming. Dinner (a not cheap table d'hôte menu) was one of the best meals we have ever eaten in a restaurant. The speciality Aylesbury duck is certainly... More

My Husband and I have passed the Kings Head many times and have wanted to go in. Today we were out for a drive and thought we would stop off here and have a drink to see what it is like before we decided to eat at the restaurant. From the outside it was not clear if there was an... More

Had a family meal in the evening to celebrate a family graduation and what a meal it was! The staff were so welcoming, helpful and friendly from the moment we walked through the door. We were initially shown into the warm and friendly bar area where we chose to sit near the roaring fire for our pre-dinner drinks and some... More

This privately owned restaurant is packed with old world charm. Parts of the building date back to the 16thC. Old wood everywhere, beams galore, beautiful antiques, and fireplaces. The service provided by Georges and the team is exemplorary and the food is hearty and stuffed with flavour. If you spot the pumpkin and parmesan soup with shitake mushrooms and truffle... More

We've been coming here for celebrations and sometimes just a meal, for years. Sadly there are not many restaurants of this quality out in the countryside any more. This is special; gleaming, atmospheric, top-class service and consistently high-quality food. We worry that one day it will be gone. The charming George du Maison watches over every element of service, from... More

Sat in very comfortable bar area, with drinks and ordered lunch. We chose off the lunch time ' special' menu. Wide choices - salmon starter/ lamb main - very tasty and well cooked. Had house wines to drink white and red, more than acceptable. Restaurant busy but did not feel rushed at all. Mixture of couples, fours and one large... More

The welcome and service was excellent. A drink in the cocktail bar was the first part of this enjoyable experience. We were offered an upgrade to Aylesbury duck on the set Lunch Menu - very well received. The ham hock terrine and fresh bread were wonderful. The duck ( carved at the table ) was faultless although if I had... More

Visited last night and even though it has been many years since I last visited the experience was just as good if not better. Superb dining and excellent attention and ambience. I had the asparagus with poached egg smoked salmon and Hollandaise sauce followed by the beef with a superb reduction sauce which was excellent. The flavours you experience in... More

We recently went to the King's Head for my father's 60th Birthday. We always go out for meals to celebrate family birthdays but wanted something a little bit more up market since this was a special one. We could not fault the food at all, every single dish was beautiful even the apple sorbet pallet cleanser! However, we must say... More

This is dining at its very best. My wife and I went there last night (after a television recommendation for the Duck) and we were not disappointed, the food was outstanding. Each course was exceptional, we had some canapés when we arrived, for starters my wife had the Asparagus with Smoked Salmon, Poached Egg and Hollandaise and I had the... More
