Can't recommend this place highly enough. We discovered them by accident, as we were staying in the Ladakh Serai (the restaurant is located on the property, though it runs independently). This was probably THE highlight of our Ladakh trip, as we did not expect a...fabulous 9-course gourmet meal, especially one which was vegetarian and introduced us to lot of new ingredients and flavours. We couldn't think of what they could do better for the entire meal; flavour, balance, presentation, portion size - everything was spot on. It's definitely a little on the pricey side, but absolutely worth it. A special shout-out for getting our meal ready at short notice - the hotel staff forgot to give them our reservation details, but they made sure we had a lovely experience at practically no notice. A suggestion to Syah is to market more, we really wish more people discovered them..More

We were staying at Ladakh Sarai and this restaurant is in the premises only. Limited seating so we had made reservations in advance. First thing first this is pricey. It costs close to Rs 1700 per person. Its a 7 course meal which nicely blends...local with global. The presentation is quite amazing and so is the service and ambience. The food is above average but such concept places are more about experience and presentation. All in all we had a good experience.More

My husband and I heard about Syah from fellow travelers at one of our dinners in Stok, and were highly recommended it. We weren't able to get a reservation at first, and then got lucky due to a cancellation, and I'm so glad we did!...I've been going to Ladakh for over 17 years, and know a bit about Ladakhi staples from my time eating at local peoples homes. Chef Pankaj uses locally grown Ladakhi staples e.g. apricots, buckwheat, sea buck thorn, yak cheese, etc and other produce to cook up a magical multi-course meal. Every course was really special, and had really honest flavours. The entire experience gives you a very modern yet traditionally satisfying culinary experience that I would go back for in a heartbeat! Very grateful to have had this experience, and huge congratulations to Chef Pankaj for creating such a marvelous experience, and being loyal to the local culinary traditions!More

The food is special,,the tasting menu is unique ,and divine, painstakingly curated by the Chef Pankaj Sharma Personally .Awesome Experience of Fine Dining at Leh .One doesn't expect such extraordinary food at such remote locations.

Chef Pankaj Sharma seems to have soaked in the cuisine and the customs of Ladakh and serves up a dinner the like of which I have never had. An unhurried dinner that reimagines the humble rice gruel Dastukh (which I had at a Ladakh village...household a few days prior) among other dishes. Foraged Weeds, Stuffed Tumok, Sea buckthorn... and more. Each elegantly plated and lovingly served. Highly recommended!More

This gem of a place , is almost in the middle of nowhere in Leh! The ambience , the presentation of food and obviously the taste was top notch, very close to the level of a Michelin’s star experience! Syah offers you a Michelin-starred experience with a view of the Himalayas, what more could you ask for? I booked the 7-course menu a week in advance and was blown away by the thoughtful service, local menu and stunning location. If you are celebrating a...special occasion or are in Leh for any reason, you can't miss a meal here. From the 7 courses, I'd say half were excellent while the other half were alright - however for the price and considering the destination, the entire experience is unmissable. The nine course meal is a perfect blend of tradition with modern culinary ‘art’. The food tastes as good as it looks, or even better. The ambience is perfect.
