This restaurant sits on a great beach, which we utilized every day, while staying at the Sandy port Beach Resort. We didn’t actually eat at the restaurant, so my review is based solely on their beach service.
Our first morning on the beach, a waiter came over and asked us if we wanted anything to eat or drink. He told us that they serve breakfast, lunch and cocktails on the beach. He also told us that they rent loungers and beach umbrellas. Cocktails were very reasonably priced along with all their menu items. There is also a bathroom located near their outdoor patio which you can use so you don’t have to walk through the restaurant in your bathing suit.
We thought this beach location was much nicer than the beach located next to the Blue Sail restaurant where most of the sandyport Beach Resort guests were going. It’s a ten minute walk from the resort. If your walking, be careful crossing the busy road. Probably wouldn’t walk there with small children. children.

For a restaurant that had been around a long time, we found it very disappointing from a food/cost perspective. The service was very nice...so that is a huge plus. My crab fettucini alfredo was by far the most disappointing. For $32 one would have expected real crab meat, and yet I got the fake crab, with boxed noodles and too much butter. We ordered an appetizer and they were out of stone crab so settled for the traditional conch fritters...these were basic crab cake with very, very little conch in them. My husband ordered the mahi and it was suppose to have a pineapple sauce on top and they were out of pineapples. Spending well over $300 for a subpar meal, we would not go back:(

To go to this restaurant was a spur of the moment decision but I was pleasantly surprised. I got the Conch Chowder and Seafood Lovers Delight. The food was really good. I was disappointed however that there was no Lobster in the Seafood Lovers delight. The Arnold Palmer (half lemonade + half iced tea) drink however was not good at all. The Iced tea was unsweetened so when mixed with the lemonade the drink tasted sugarless.

A triumph of quantity over quality.
The prices were very steep and so we were expecting something really special. It wasn't. The portions were huge and easily fed four of us the next day, but I'd really rather have a smaller portion that looks and tastes wonderful.
The prices were high, but hey-ho we're on holiday.
Then 10% VAT was added to the bill, then another 18% for "Service". The service was ok although why they added 18% to bring the food from the kitchen to the table is beyond me. I thought that was included , clearly I was deluded, oh well at least warming up the food was included in the price. "Oh sorry we forgot the pay the staff could you chip in a few dollars for them?" $200 for just four mains courses.
If there was any atmosphere I was unable to find it, the place needs an upgrade, it seems very down at heel.
Overall, given the quality of food, the high prices, and the surroundings I cannot recommend this restaurant. I will not be returning.

We ate at the original location closer to downtown Nassau 3 years ago and food was very good. If we hadn’t made reservations on open table, I would have thought driving past this second location of the poop deck that it was closed and abandoned. Building is run down and desperate need of an update. First of all the service and staff were lovely & friendly so that’s why it’s 2 stars instead of 1, but food was 1 star. The food choices on the menu, and the food was terrible. We ordered the Conch Fritters and they were over fried and had burn edges. My kids ordered the chicken Alfredo, sauce was super thick and salty. I ordered the seafood pasta and the minimal lobster and shrimp in the dish were drowning in a very thick heavy sauce, the piece of snapper fish on top of the dish was so salty it was not edible. For a family of 4, in the end we paid $200 which didn’t include dessert. My kids usually want to bring their leftovers home, but not this time.

We recently stayed in the Bahamas and The Poop Deck was in walking distance from where we stayed. We ended up eating here 4 different times. The food was really good but service was even better.
Cabell, aka The Boogey Man, was our waiter twice and we really enjoyed meeting him. He was so warm and welcoming, and we loved getting to chat with him.

This place is just a classic, the interiors are decorated with signed menus from famous visitors. Although they do not take reservations, so if you're arriving in the typical dinner window (between 6-7pm), be prepared to wait. The hostess told us about and hour and a half wait, but it was more like 45mins. We waiting patiently in the bar area and enjoyed drinks. Our table was right outside looking over to the marina below. Food was so fresh (crab claws), grouper fingers, calamari - all amazing.

We had dinner at the Poop Deck twice while staying at the Sandyport Beach Resort. It was definitely our favorite of the nearby restaurants offering dinner. We ate out on the open air patio with a view of the beach. I liked that the menu offers a variety of sides that you select (2) from when ordering an entre: peas and rice, sweet plantains, mac and cheese, salad, veggies ... so you can customize your meal. Overall, we were happy with all of our selections. Service was friendly and attentive. The menu is a little pricey, but not unreasonable. The vibe is a bit traditional/old fashioned. If it were easier to pop in for a more causal meal (smaller, less $), we would have gone even more often during our stay.

The hostess and server were very pleasant. Ordered 2 speciality drinks from the drink menu, one for myself and one for my husband. Both were rum drinks and both were not good- not sure if it was the rum or the mixers but they were both not good.
Clams were sandy and sauce lacked flavor. Tuna tartare was tuna mixed with sriracha. After the appetizers my husband and I decided that this was not the place for us. We have been to the Bahamas many times, wanted try some new, more local type, restaurants and had seen good reviews. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The experience was disappointing at best.

This one is difficult to get to without a car, but if you're staying in Sandyport it's walkable. It's an attractive building on the beach. It's clean, and the staff are friendly and efficient. The food is either very salty or very oily. Deep frying is a national institution. It's worth a visit if you are staying over the road and have few other options.

Ok that was a bad chili night, windy. So it was impossible enjoying the best of this restaurant that are tables over - literally- the sand, on the beach. We forced to eat inside with the windows locked and thus the magic of this place gone away.
The food is on average, fairly overpriced compared to twin place downtown. Frankly speaking the only reason to visit it again is to enjoy outside tables when weather allows…..

We walked from Sandyport Resort which was a bit scary crossing a 4 lane highway with no crosswalk. Once there we were greeted by friendly staff, seated immediately without a reservation. Location right on beach, very lovely ambiance. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful especially Carvel…he went above and beyond. Cracked conch was tasty as was our main dish of snapper (catch of the day). Wine and drink selection could be better. But Carvel definitely was outstanding and made this visit phenomenal,

This used to be a great place to eat, beautiful ambience, awesome seafood, and courteous staff. but no more.
We went back here the last two times and were greatly disappointed, no more table clothes on your table, no more candle lit dinners.
On top of that, the food and the menu dove off the cliff. The last two times I felt I was eating at Long John Silvers.
On top of that, the staff seemed to be understaffed and rude.
What a shame, this used to be my favorite restaurant.
I guess good things never last.
I would avoid this place, your money will be much better spent for quality seafood, ambience, and customer service ELSEWHERE.
Goodbye Poop Deck, you used to be the best, now you are the WORST.
What a crying shame.

Booked a table for the evening after we had just picked up freshly made conch salad for lunch.
Because of Covid restrictions, only available tables were on porch (all reserved) and on patio below, with view only of the sand dune.
Staff graciously set up a table on top of the dune, with a standing lamp, so we had a lovely view of the sea.
Food was the best we've had in Nassau; delicious.
Hope to visit again post-Covid, when things are not so stressed because of the curfew.
