Last week was our second trip to Grand Cayman and we decided to eat at a few of our favorites from last time as well as a few new places. This was one of the new ones. Unlike many of the other more expensive places where we had dinner, Casanova by the Sea is a value-priced Italian restaurant with a view out the back of the water. We were fortunate to get a table right at the back rail, overlooking the ocean. The food was delicious and we would certainly go back on our next Cayman visit. The linguini ala Vongole (linguini with white clam sauce) was really superb as well as the linguini with seafood. Excellent food, great service and a reasonable price is a winning formula!

... it looked like plenty of locals on this Saturday night. At nine o’clock the place was packed. Service was reasonable - not overly friendly - and efficient. Bar staff was very friendly and eager to chat with us as we waited for our table. Food was very good across the board (equal to many Italian upscale restaurants in Chicago) and, while not cheap, we found to still be one of the better values for dinner. Add in the fact that we were overlooking the ocean and I’m giving five stars.

My boyfriend and I ate dinner here this past Saturday and all I can say is WOW! From the kind, inviting staff greeting us when we first entered, to the impeccable service throughout the duration of our meal, we cannot recommend this place enough. Our waiter, Bagio, took such great care of us and really made our experience truly unforgettable. We are from New York and are involved in hospitality, and if we could find people as good as Bagio we would be in great shape. We ordered the Veal Piccata al Limone with pasta in a pink sauce and we were very impressed by the freshness and the immense flavor. We also ordered the lasagna which was also extremely tasty and hearty. The whole vibe was very charming and the music coming from next door made our time that much more enjoyable. If you are visiting Grand Cayman, you cannot leave the island until you try this place! We will 100% be back.

We went with friends last night and boy, oh boy was it rammed. Obviously a seriously popular place. Nevertheless we got an ocean view table, which was great. They were very accommodating with assorted dietary requirement, or just off menu requests. We had a selection of antipasto as appetisers - all good. Then our party choose a wide array of entrees from veal & fish through to pasta. Nothing but praise. The service is very efficient and the owner is everywhere trying to make sure y’all enjoy yourselves. One caveat, it was really, REALLY noisy.

This place was recommended to us and definitely did not disappoint. In fact we went there twice in our 7 day stay. The staff is incredibly accommodating and was able to seat us at our requested time both times (and on the deck overlooking the sea). The homemade pasta with seafood is insane! Everything is of high quality and served with a smile! Food is served quickly too!

Starting with the warm welcome and on to every delicious bite, this dining experience does not disappoint. The wine list is extensive and our server additionally shared several drink specials for the night. Among our group, we enjoyed steak, risotto and seafood. Dessert and dessert beverages were fabulous. Oh, did we mention the atmosphere? We sat outdoors with our table just steps away from the waterfront. Service was stellar. Include this in your island visit!

I have eaten at Casanova several times and this last time is just that, the last time. The service has never been stellar which I had come to expect. The main course "Chicken Parmesan" was tender but tasteless. What put me over the edge was the "special dessert". Lemon Meringue pie that looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for at least three days.

Arrived at 5:30, perfect time to prepare for the most beautiful sunset while enjoying the the freshest well prepared food one could experience. We reserved a table on the water and ordered a Caesar salad and a conch app for the table to start. My daughter ordered the homemade ravioli, mother had the shrimp linguini and I ordered the salmon. If I could do it over, I enjoyed the salmon but would have been better with one of the specials. The level of customer service was 5 star.

I came here with my best friend on a hasty and impromptu decision, and glad we did, as the night didn’t fail to impress. Greeted always by the passionate Italian waiters, who provided us with a lovely table by the sea (the great view of numerous tarpons was a bonus!). We were then handed the menu options, and talked through an extensive knowledge and combinations of the options which are available to choose from the tempting menu! This only made my decision worse, too many gorgeous choices! We decided on the New York strip steak (boring I hear you say, you’re at an Italian restaurant !) but know they cook and serve it consistently well, so why break the habit of a lifetime! It was, as expected, parfait! My friend loved the ravioli stuffed with 4 cheese and topped with a Ragu, which was outstanding....a true array of flavours hits your palette with this dish.! Service provided by the great and all welcoming Mr.Ervish, Thank you! Look forward to coming back soon

This restaurant came recommended to us. With a reservation we were able to sit on the lower deck by the water which was a lovely setting. The restaurant is very close to the cruise ship dock. Our waiter was friendly. The atmosphere was a little more busy so although we were not rushed the frantic activity around us created less than a leisurely dining experience. Despite that the food was very good and the service attentive.

We have been dining at Casanova since our first visit to Grand Cayman many years ago. We are never disappointed. If you want a table by the ocean you can't get any closer. We always sit right on the beach of shells and watch the water gently roll in. You can smell the sea air and really feel the ocean while waiting for the sunset. We enjoyed the salmon filet and also penne with salmon and vodka sauce. The wine was excellent, we shared creme brulee for desert, finished with a cappuccino and latte. A small brushcetta appetizer, with baked bread and final aperitif of Lemoncello was impressive.

Had the pleasure of having a leisurely Birthday lunch at Casanova’s with some girlfriends this week. Our server Edward was fantastic, he took great care of us. We sat inside in the a/c but they also have a lovely patio, where you are sitting right on the water. Our fresh pasta dishes were all very good along with some great wine choices recommended by Edward. Would definite recommend Casanova’s for lunch or dinner.

Restaurant was very busy but service was good. The food however was just average. My first colleague had a prawn starter, 5 prawns hanging over a glass full of ice. Followed by a great Sicilian pizza made with what looked like Red Leicester cheese. My other colleague had meat ball starter, good meat balls, no cheese as advertised on menu. Main course seafood linguine, he stated if it was a blind tasting session he would of had difficulty identifying any seafood, it was so overcooked any flavour had long since departed. We finished off with coffee we think might of been made from acorns.

We have always been told to go to Casanova for great Italian food... I am not saying that the food was bad, I am just not sure that I would call it great. I was also underwhelmed with the restaurant itself. We had reservations and walked in at the same time as another couple. The gentlemen at the front helped the other couple first and asked us to wait while he "prepared an extra special table for us". Well that table was right next to the stairs going down to that deck area below. The staff traffic was constant and loud... dishes going up, dishes and trays going down. If we were tight enough in that little corner, add a table with all the water pitchers as well. They faced our table out so that we looked out at all the diners there ... very odd. My husband and I had a joke that it looked like we were at our reception looking out at our invited guests LOL Regardless we had a nice meal but we don't think we would put it on our list of places we would love to return too.

We had a wonderful, authentic, Italian dinner. We started at the bar where the bare tender introduced us to a fabulous Sangiovese wine that the restaurant imports exclusively. For dinner we we seated outside over looking the ocean. We started we a tomato, basil and mozzarella salad with a light pesto dressing. For a main course we both chose seafood. My wife had the risotto and I had mine with linguini. For dessert we had Affogato, vanilla gelato with a shot of espresso accompanied by ladyfinger cookies. The food, staff and atmosphere are all excellent.
