My husband and I chose to eat at the Veranda restaurant on Lobster night during our stay at the Marriott Resort. It was an excellent decision. The full course meal included a glass of sparkling wine, For an additional charge you could make it an all you can eat lobster meal, but the lobster tail was of good size and with all the sides just the regular meal was plenty. Our waiter was Walter who was very helpful when we asked about different wine choices and descriptions of foods we were uncertain of what it was. Our meal was served at a nice pace and followed by dessert. Thank you Walter.

Have enjoyed three dinners at Veranda the grilled fish night was amazing we ordered the Corvina with escovich sauce and the swordfish with lime butter sauce. The freshness was outstanding. The spinach and roasted pumpkin salad was also delicious as is the conch soup. For mains the bouillabaisse is the best I have ever eaten and I have ordered it twice. It comes with a lovely piece of homemade corn bread which is a nice complement to the soup. The surf and turf is also outstanding. The steak is so tender you do not need a knife to cut it
Last night the chef came out to explain how to make the conch soup and bouillabaisse as we had told our waiter Shiva how much we loved the dishes. It was a wonderful bonus to receive.
The dessert of choice is the salted caramel ice cream jar layers of crumbled toffee, homemade ice cream topped with a crisp chocolate coating it is out if this world and a fabulous end to a fantastic meal. Don’t forget to order a coffee it is freshly brewed and is delicious and pairs well with the desserts.
Definitely eat at Veranda it is well worth the money as the freshness and unique dining options are unforgettable!

On occasion what turns a good dinner out into an excellent dining experience, is the wait staff.
Tonight was such a night.
We had the pleasure of eating at Veranda and having Allwyn as our waiter. What could have turned out to be a bad experience was quickly transformed into a wonderful evening.
We were not expecting the menu to be what it was this night, having made a reservation weeks ago online when booking our vacation. Due to dining restrictions we found the menu difficult to negotiate.
Our waiter, Allwyn, was so helpful in making suggestions and offering us other choices and options that allowed us to have a most fabulous meal at The Veranda. We enjoyed everything we had immensely and could not have been more pleased!
Allwyn is an extremely professional, attentive and caring member of the Veranda waitstaff.
He went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was 100% spot on.
Cannot day enough good things about his service.
On a side to to the GM John-
I read your responses to other reviews and you attribute the excellent Service to the training the employees receive. I must give kudos to you because your staff is wonderful. As a Marriot platinum member, we have been to many Marriot properties and I have to say, keep doing what your doing, because it works!!
My compliments to you and The Veranda staff.

Another return trip to Veranda and it is still as excellent as before. We were warmly greeted by staff that recognized us from previous visits and on Wednesday nights there is a local band playing music. The backdrop are the gentle sounds of the waves. All of this is nice but the food and service are impeccable.
We ordered off the ala carte menu and passed on the Lobster night specials. Our two dishes were both prepared exactly as we asked. We had the snapper and the traditional Paella and highly recommend both dishes. We split the flatbread appetizer and it was also delicious. We joked that the only room for improvement on the meal was the bread, it was fine, but not quite as exceptional as the rest of the meal. Indulge and enjoy a very special place.

Twice a year before a dive trip on the East End or the Cayman Aggressor V, I make a point to eat dinner at the Veranda and always ask for Walter, my favorite waiter. I have written about this place and Walter on previous occasions, and the evaluation never changes. This is a great restaurant on the beach, really good wine selections, and I encourage anyone to request Walter for your server. A first rate person who will not steer you in the wrong direction! I highly recommend the coconut shrimp and any of the steaks. You will not be disappointed!

Had an amazing dinner at the Veranda for our first night in the Caymans. We had the shrimp pasta entree, the empanada with mozzarella and spinach, and pan seared scallops. All were delicious, but the experience was made very special due to our server, Shiva! He was fun and attentive, and he suggested a fantastic dessert of salted caramel ice cream topped with a chocolate shell. Would highly recommend asking for Shiva if you get the chance to dine at Veranda!

Our group ranged in age from 26 to 58, all women. All well-traveled women. It was our first visit to the Cayman Islands. And it will be the first of many visits back to the Cayman Islands thanks to the lovely hospitality of the Marriott. We were not staying at the Marriott but we ate every single meal there because of the fresh and delicious food, the beautiful outdoor setting, And the friendliness and kindness and warmth of the people who worked at the hotel! Our server, Mary Ann, became one of the reasons that we opted to eat almost every meal there! People often spend their energy writing negative reviews and some of them are warranted, but less often give reviews that are positive. Every meal was such a positive experience for us that it really did elevate our vacation! 7 mile beach is beautiful, the weather was beautiful, the people are friendly and welcoming and our interactions at the Marriott/Veranda was just the cherry on top of this wonderful vacation Sundae! It’s clear that the hotel has taken pains to make sure that people‘s needs are met and exceeded. And from what we could hear around us it was quite a demanding clientele, but it was all met with enthusiasm and graciousness. Kudos to the management team and all the people who work hard to make relaxation and enjoyment an art form. We will Be back as soon as possible!

We had dinner at the Veranda two nights while in Grand Cayman. Both were excellent. The view is absolutely wonderful. We ordered off the menu the first night and then ordered their themed meal on the second visit (Argentinian grilled food). What brought us back even more than the location/view and food, though was their service. Walter was our server on the first night, and we had such great service we specifically asked for him the second time as well. Walter is the first server I have ever asked for specifically. He was professional, personable, attentive and charming. I would recommend him highly.

We are midway through our first trip to Grand Cayman, and have eaten daily at the Veranda. It’s a short stroll from where we’re staying, which was what initially drew us in, but the food has been consistently delicious. They have light, refreshing fare (would highly recommend the charred corn and feta salad!) as well as some great, substantive seafood dishes (the mahi mahi and grouper were both excellent). We have been lucky enough to have Mary Ann as our server on multiple occasions — she was attentive and sweet, and even remembered us after only one meal. She quickly became our “first friend” here in Cayman, and we look forward to joining her for many more meals!

I was looking for a nice place to take my family for dinner in Grand Cayman this past Christmas.I was hoping for outdoors, a lovely setting, and great food. Asking for too much? Veranda delivered. We had two wiggly toddlers and two people over 70. It worked for ALL of us. Shiva was particularly helpful with our service, making sure that the kids' food was fast and that ours was semi-leisurely. (Who does "leisurely" with little kids?) I would go back there in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great Christmas, Veranda!

We visited tonight, Saturday, just the 2 of us for my birthday meal.
We were served by Mary Ann, who was delightful from the get go, ensuring we were content at all times but not too
overpowering.
Having lived in Cayman for 5 months and eating at multiple locations, Mary Ann showed the best hospitality by far tonight.
Thank you very much for a special birthday meal.
Would highly recommend the restaurant for great food and equally as great atmosphere!

We originally had a reservation at Anchor & Den but did not realize that the restaurant had no ocean view. We asked to change to Veranda and found the Marriott employees went above and beyond. By the time we walked three minutes to Veranda, the hostesses had talked and prepared a table. We enjoyed Anthony's service as we talked about life and culture in the Philippines. Food-wise, I had the mahi-mahi with the lemon butter sauce while my companion had the corvina with the same sauce. The mahi-mahi was terrific, the corvina a little less so.

We had a great table and the evening was perfect. We split a salad that had a Boursin cheese dressing and whole cashews and it was tasty, however there were several pieces of lettuce that were brown. ( my only complaint) My husband had the grouper and cleaned his plate and my paella was also quite good. I asked our waiter, Shiva, for shrimp to be added and he was very accommodating. I got 5 shrimp, which was more than enough with the chicken and chorizo. We also got a nice surprise of champagne with raspberries in our glasses. Then an added bonus, salted caramel dessert with a hard chocolate topping. It was delicious. All in all a very nice meal, which was made even more special with the attentiveness of Shiva. Thank you for making our anniversary memorable.

With the live band filling the air, and a table overlooking the bay at sunset, we enjoyed a very special birthday dinner. Selected from a great cocktail menu, enjoyed crab cakes, salad, and a snapper entree. Mary Ann, our server, took care of our every need and presented me with a delicious birthday dessert. Wonderful!

We had the all you can eat lobster on Wednesday night and loved it! Beautiful restaurant on the beach with delicious food, good drinks, and wonderful service. Our waiter was Alwyn, and he was the best ever; kept our drinks refilled, the lobster tails coming, and had us laughing and smiling all night. We can't wait to go back and hope Alwyn will be there!
