We followed the recommendation of the waiter and ordered the trifongo (which was fried) and the mofongo (which was baked). It was fun to try the regional specialty. Mostly we picked this restaurant because it was close to el Morro and we had worked up quite an appetite walking from the parking garage along the shore, up all the steps... More

After walking through Old San Juan for miles, we were looking for comida criolla-local foods with lots of flavor. When we walked past this place and saw the advertisement for the trifongo we knew we had to try it. The traditional mofongo is made with mashed fried green plantain but this variation includes yuca (cassava) and sweet plantains. We ordered... More

While sightseeing in Old San Juan we came across this quaint bar\restaurant. It was hot outside and we stopped for a couple of drinks. They had a buy one/get one special so we decided to stop. The drinks were very good and the wait staff was very friendly. They had a restaurant in the back but we had already eaten,... More

We went to a weeding rehearsal dinner party. For 22$ we had a drink, cream soup and main course. The food was good (chicken or churrasco), tostones (friend green plantains), salad and a very tasty cream of yautia. The employees were very friendly and the atmosphere for a Thursday was lively! The place is in front of San José Church,... More

Came across this place after walking from the fort. They had their menu on the outside which was nice to look at when you are unsure of a new restaurant. We shared the Cuban sandwich for lunch. Most places were packed with waiting lists and this gem had room for a lot of people. I would come back here.

This was a nice place to stop for lunch. The restaurant has an indoor courtyard with a glass roof, which gave it a nice look and feel. The food was good, and the staff was friendly. It's really close to San Filipe del Morro and a few museums.

We just ran across this one while walking and really enjoyed it. Food and drinks were great and the service was awesome! We even went back another day! They had the best burgers and we were really in the mood for a burger this time instead of local food, which was very good also.

Nice restaurant in the upper part of Old San Juan. Had trifongo one night, which I had never tried before. Went back the next night and had a great mofongo. Nice clean restaurant with friendly wait staff. I'll go back the next time I'm in town.

Traveling with two boys 10 and 14 can be difficult to find something to eat. Sam's had something on the menu for everyone. Hamburger is a must. Puerto Rican specialties were very good. I would come back.
