Along with Jaquita Baya... this is one of the top 3 restaurants for me. It is very expensive, but the food and ambiance make up for it. Cuisine is puertorrican fusion, after going there 4 times I haven't found something I disliked. ORDER EVERYTHING!!! And...More

Went here for a business dinner (party of 7). Everything was excellent - from the Watermelon Mojitos to the appetizers, entrees and desert. Everyone raved about his/her food. Multiple dietary restrictions and preferences we accommodated without issue. Wait staff was attentive and timely. Would not...More

Santaella is a total trap for the narcissist and spendthrift. It is not authentic Puerto Rican cuisine at all and everything about this restaurant is about being seen and acting like you are important or wish to be. The food is decent, with the entrees...More

The food and ambiance of this restaurant is outstanding. It maybe the closest you will come to a traditional puerto rican meal as possible. Located in La Placita (which is also a must see) the wife and I went there before mingling with the locals....More

A dark place. My chicken was very hard. I have to ask for more water 4 times. In general, over spiced and to much oil for my taste. Dessert was excelent.

I would say not expensive is you come from the USA but can get pricy for locals. Average high ... 18 to 35. On the other hand cóctails are around 15 per cóctails.

Hi-I'm from Farmington too! Is there a dress code? We have reservations for a weeknight. My friend & I are bringing dressy casual but nothing too dressy. Most of the restaurants we went to last time were very casual so we are paring down the # of shoes, bags & accessories this time!

Elegant casual is OK. I might suggest no floppys.

Chef José Santaella has trained with some of the best chefs in the world, including Ferrán Adriá, Eric Ripert, and Gary Danko. His apprenticeships and successful catering career paved the way for Santaella, his signature restaurant in Santurce's La Placita Marketplace. The decor is rustic yet elegant, with exposed walls, Edison light fixtures, an interior garden, and a sparkling bar. Chef Santaella fuses local and international ingredients to perfectly execute Puerto Rican nouvelle cuisine. The menu is dominated by tapas, which you can easily make into a meal. Favorites include the ahi tuna skewers, goat cheese quesadilla, 'alcapurrias' topped with crab, and foie gras terrine with fruit jelly . The cocktail bar is one of the best on the island, so don't leave without trying one of the concoctions by Santaella's mixologists. -Fodors
