The place was empty on a wednesday afternoon, so I can't comment how service would be on a busier day. Nevertheless, it was pleasant and quick. I had the carnitas. For $13, the plate was massive, and, better yet, delectable. The carnitas were very crunchy on the outside and oh so tender on the inside. This place is worth exploring... More

This was a lovely venue for dinner on a picturesque street in old San Juan. We really enjoyed the Queso fundido and the duck quesadilla was delicious. I enjoyed my fish tacos, but the rest of my family found their meals disappointing. Most of the dishes we tried to order were unavailable--the restaurant had been cleared out by several cruise... This place is truly amazing. The margaritas are superb. All of the fish tacos were unbelievable. I had the ahi tuna tacos. My friend had the lettuce wrapped fish tacos. A gastronomic experience to be had. The shrimp fajitas were like none that I've ever had before. Something for everyone on the menu so you can bring your kids. Freshly... More

The quality of the food, the presentation, and the flavors were amazing ! The menu is simple but has a lot of variety and all the dishes were prepared with a lot of personal details and atrention. The shrimp fajitas were generous in portion and the Mexican fondue was delicious. Good options for vegetarians too! Reasonably priced for being in... More

A local recommended La Madre to us. We hadn't planned on eating at a Mexican restaurant while in San Juan but we're glad we did. It's a small, cozy restaurant with some outdoor seating. We chose to eat inside because of the heat and humidity. All of the food and drinks we ordered were excellent. The margaritas sure hit the... More

The restaurant is tiny but cozy. The staff are so personable and polite. Our waiter was excited when my boyfriend said he was getting the carnitas because he said they were so good. Fish tacos were amazing and the meals are very flavorful, fresh and filling. I don't think I'll be able to leave the island without going again. Highly... More
