Disappointed of the "bacalaitos" heard so many good things about this appetizer and turn out to be just fried mashed potato with a sliver of "bacalau" (a dried salted cod - Norwegian fish) but we had this waiter (Marco) who was superb,my friends ordered the burger, and my hubby got the fish taco, with my bacalaitos I tasted the Medalia... We ate four meals here – three breakfasts and one lunch. We were lucky to have had Mateo as our waiter for all but one occasion. Mateo is the pinnacle of class service and a gentleman to boot – the perfect match for Patio to Nispero. The setting really can’t be beat. While some might complain that it’s outside and... More

Why three stars and not two: Amazing setting, great location in Old San Juan, right across from the oldest church in the Americas (1521, then rebuilt in 1540), El Convento is a converted convent first built in 1634 and then rehabbed in 1962 by Woolworth (and then again in 1990). The courtyard is quiet and a wonderful place to sit.... More

My husband and I went here for lunch after mass at the Catedral. I liked the quiet, historic atmosphere of the patio. The mofongo was very good, but I will admit I was starving so take that with a grain of salt!

Beautiful place to sit for a relaxed lunch. On such a hot day you sit among the trees and the wind it's very refreshing. We ordered the mofongo with chicken and mojitos. It was delicious !! The service was a little slow until we spoke with our waiter and told him we had to get to the ship by a... More

We stayed one night at the El Convento. Upon our departure, we decided to have breakfast at the hotel. Our server was excellent; I believe his name was Tony. He took great care for us. Excellent coffee served; Alto Grande. I have a gluten intolerance so I had the omelet. Was excellent; made to order as well as a bowl... More

The tacos are seriously incredible- try them! This restaurant was located in our hotel, so we went for lunch twice. The second time I had the chicken sandwich, which was fine, but not amazing. Service was always great and the patio is beautiful. Ask for a spot in the shade and enjoy a Chi Chi if you're in the mood... More
