The food was lovely at this restaurant but the lighting was far too dim. I appreciate they want to create an ambience with the lighting in the sea but we thought this was ridiculous. We had to shine our phone torches on the menu to read it and you couldn’t see the food you were eating very well without shining a torch. You did acclimatise to the lighting over the evening but the minute you put a light on you were back to square one. Shame because it would have been lovely to have taken photos of the food but this was impossible. I had prawns (shrimps) in linguine. Very nice but again because of the lighting I found I’d eaten all the shrimps so was left with just pasta which as a result I didn’t finish. The food was expensive. It would have been worth it if you could see it but I wouldn’t return there unless I knew the lighting had changed.

The Experience
Let me tell you, Omroy and the staff at Marguerites (with the exception of the bus driver) are hands down 10/10!!!
They made my dad’s surprise 60th birthday celebration the best, and most amazing experience. From the time of arrival to the time that we left (like i said before, with the exception of the bus driver who will pick you up for transportation).
Omroy, from the beginning of planning with him, was extremely communicative, accommodating, polite and went above and beyond. I literally told him my dad loved Asake, and i would love it if could be praying when he walked in. They typically don’t do this as we didn’t buyout the entire restaurant but we had 19 people (it was initially meant to be 24; but last minute issues happened with some of our guests). But to my surprise; when we walked in to surprise my dad with his friends and family, Asake was playing.
Oh Omroy, you and your waitstaff need a raise because I was just so overjoyed and everyone enjoyed themselves.
I let Omroy know that this was a surprise for my dad and they accommodated picking up our surprise guests first so that when my dad walked in they were all there waiting for him.
The Food
I got the crab cake appetizer and the run down snapper; both were really good; the only caveat is that I’m from Maryland, the home of crab, so we prefer our crab cakes to be lump crab, these ones are more like shredded crab meat.
Baby, if you know you like Caesar salad, this is the best place to go to get one Worldwide. My cousin loves Caesar salad so we literally eat it in every country we go to, hands down, this is the best!!! It’s literally an experience as they make everything from scratch right in front of you; including the dressing
The Driver
He was polite until we dropped him off; my husband went to give him a tip (we stayed 10min away from the restaurant) and was counting out money (we got our money changed to $1s for tipping as this is the culture in Jamaica) and I guess he saw $1 bills and “assumed” he saw my husband count $2 and his response was very nasty “oh that’s only $2 you can keep that” and stormed off. Mind you, on a $2K bill we tipped $500. Even if it was $2, which it wasn’t, the response was crazy, tipping is a courtesy NOT a requirement; it’s like a homeless man saying i want KFC instead of Taco Bell when you try to help and give him food - BE MORE GRATEFUL AND HUMBLE!! This economy is rough on everyone and whatever extra people can give you should just be grateful.
Outside of that, 10/10 experience.

The experience here was amazing the Waiter was on point the while time no long wait time the food was prepared well and there was a live salad making thing going on right before we had the salad. The salad server asked what we wanted in the salad before making it as well. If you are ever coming to montego bay this is a must try restaurant. I would definetly be going back to treat myself one day.es

Went here for my birthday dinner on 11/16/24 & had the absolute WORST time. PLEASE do not go to this restaurant it is just a professional Jamaican scam. They have the menu priced like a mf Gordon Ramsay restaurant but I’ve had McDonalds in the U.S. with better service. When I got to the restaurant the door man gave us attitude & was giving us a hard time on the checkin for absolutely no reason as not only did we have a reservation but the restaurant was almost completely empty. There was only one other table seated when we got in. They also said Outside seating was closed because it drizzled earlier in the day so we had to sit inside. They proceed to sit us in the corner at the smallest table possible with literally no room. (mind you I’m 6 foot ’7). Then when the waiter finally came, before we could even order he told us literally at least 5-6 things on the menu were not available & when we ordered the tableside caesar, they said we couldn't get it because of the location of our table 😂 so sadly we had to watch the table directly next to us get it but we couldn’t get it. Literally I cannot make this up. Next was the drinks- I ordered a tequila sunrise my girl got a lemon drop- these mfs brought me a random drink and my girl a apple martini. Couldn't even bring us a proper drink. Then lastly was the food, literally the best food they had was the garlic bread. I ordered the scallops & mashed potatoes, my girl got the risotto. The scallops were uncooked and gummy, mashed potatoes tasted like some old box made ones, literally inedible, powdery, dry and nasty. My girl got the risotto and the rice texture was hard and tasted like it wasn't cooked properly at all. Mind you, they are charging 5 star food prices when the only person I would recommend this food to is my dog. Sad to know that this is how a high priced Jamaican restaurant treats their paying customers on their earth strong. I would never eat here again or recommend it to anyone. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Party of 16 we looked at this place being one of the few places open for Christmas in Jamaica. My expectations was low first and foremost after reading the reviews. I wanted to really enjoy the food here but it was disgusting. My 14 year old even agreed!!! We will never dine here again Terrible Terrible food and they over charge for the quality! Crab cakes tastes like potatoe cakes I make better ones than this smh

My wife had made the reservation for my birthday and let them know it was for that occasion.
The hostess was pleasant when we went in, and they were willing to keep our bags as we had gotten ready after leaving the beach. She walked us to our seats, where the view was amazing and the atmosphere definitely has that "WOW" factor.
The waiter was pleasant, and was willing to have the bartender make a specially requested drink at my request.
Things started heading downhill once we got to our entrees, where we had the filet mignon and lobster combination. The steaks were done great, but the lobster was quite rubbery, where it seemed as though they were kept in the freezer or done in a microwave. As it was my birthday I chose to ignore it, but it was the same for my wife, so we requested that the her lobster be replaced. The replacement had the same issue.
I was intent on not having anything spoil my birthday, but after the lobster issue the waiter seemed a bit despondent, where he became less attentive, but we still ordered dessert and a couple more drinks.
Now as mentioned before this was meant a birthday reservation, where they had been aware, and when we first entered the hostess was not at her station and my wife confirmed that she saw our reservation and it being listed as a birthday. At no point during the course of our time there was there any acknowledgement of that.

We were really looking forward to getting off our resort for one night to enjoy a fine-dining experience. Sadly, Margeurite’s in Montego Bay failed to live up to our expectations.
Where to begin… Margeurite’s is right next door to the Margaritaville (makes sense), which is the Hip Strip’s resident party destination. At Margeurite’s we were seated at a table for two on the patio which surveyed the sun setting over the ocean. Sounds lovely, right? No more than twenty feet away from us were two HUGE catamarans that were moored at Margaritaville’s loading up with drunk revellers for a sunset booze cruise. The crowd was noisy, the boats were PUMPING out two conflicting dance tracks, and belching out powerful diesel fumes from their idling engines, and the captains were having a grand old time blowing their respective horns, presumably to alert any nearby patio couples of the amount of FUN they were having.
We literally couldn’t even talk to each other, such was the racket.
Now for the actual meal. My wife ordered a bottle of champagne, and the server who brought it to our table popped the cork with two much vigour, as it erupted and foamed a quarter of the bottle out onto the deck. No restitution was offered.
We started with the crab cakes, of which there were only two of VERY modest size, and they honestly tasted like tuna fish under all that breading. Not very good at all. Next came the surf and turf for me, and lobster for her. Entrees were tasty enough but the steak was more of a medallion. 4 ounces, tops.
We ordered dessert, tiramisu and cheesecake, which was interesting. Our waiter didn’t know what kind of fruit came on the cheesecake, and it turned out to be diced maraschino cherries. Which didn’t really do it for me.
Our meal cost just over $400 Cdn. We recommend giving this place a hard miss, but if you really need to try it for yourself, aim for after 7:00pm, which is when those bloody boats finally cast off!

The location of the restaurant is nice. The staff do not smile or greet you. The service is poor, the food ok, not bad, but not worth the price. Dinner for four was almost $500 USD, and we left hungry. The staff showed no interest in making the experience great. No smiles, no eye contact, and the wait between courses was long enough to watch a full movie. I could not get drunk enough to forget about the misgivings because the cocktail waitress never came by to see if we were interested in a second round. We stayed at the Half Moon resort and this was highly recommended by the concierge, and i will let them know if they like their guests, to please stop recommending this place.

Gorgeous upscale restaurant with beautiful views of the ocean. That is where it ends. My husband and I had the table side Caesar salad which was mediocre at best. I never had balsamic vinegar in a Caesar salad before. Next was the grilled lobster tail which was tough, dry and had no seasoning on it. My husband’s filet was terrible with it being undercooked and tough. I never tasted a piece of meat quite like it. Everyone commented on how great the service was, but ours was spotty at best. A different server brought our food than the one who took our order and when my husband realized he didn’t get the scallops that was supposed to be on his dish, no one was around to assist. After a disappointing 2 1/2 hour dinner, we asked for the check and told the waiter my husband was served the wrong meal. He discounted the check which was lovely, but we would have rather had a good meal.

Perhaps we had arrived at a time post New Years eve when the staff may have been tired or perhaps being rude and lackadaisical is part of the service?
We had booked a table requesting a table on the terrace. On arrival we were greeted by the maitre de, who took her time checking us in and then told to wait as she sought a table. We waited at least five minutes, if not longer, and she did not come back. She had disappeared into 'thin air'. A few minutes later another member of the waiting staff, asked if they could help us. There was now a line behind us. We explained that we had been waiting for the maître de who said she would 'be back'. This waiter again checked us in and said: 'you already have tick, just wait'. Meanwhile my partner visited the restrooms and came back dismayed at the state of the restrooms (shared by the restaurant next door, and clearly not serviced in a while). Eventually the member of the waiting staff came back and said there were no tables on the terrace and pointed to a sole table in doors with no tablecloth or cutlery and said you can sit there if you want. There were no other diners and in a soulless location without air-conditioning. We decided to leave. Cannot comment about the food but going back to Roundhill was a relief.

The food was delicious and the view of the carribean beneath you one of the best on the island. We celebrated my birthday and the staff made it extra special. The food is 5 stars and the staff 6 stars. Reservations are recommended unless you are eating in a later hour. They are open until 9:00 p.m. but they never rush you out the door. This is one of my new favorite restaurants. If you are weary from eating jerk chicken during every excursion, treat yourself to some prime beef and an array of seafood options. Try the crab cakes and filet mignon. You won't be disappointed!!!

We were at Marguerites for an early dinner to catch the sunset.
The view was nice, staff and service really good.
Ordered the shrimp risotto and it was amazing, highlight of the meal by far.
Then that’s were things could have been exceptional but ended up disappointing us.
My wife ordered the surf and turf which has a delicious reduction but the meat was cooked well WELL done. Still she liked it but could have been great.
I ordered the lamb (medium) but just like the meat it was cooked well done which is not what you want in lamb.
So doing a recap, for a restaurant that’s not cheap at all and that is very recognized, this key mistakes in the food should not happen.

We were looking forward to a sophisticated and elegant 5 star dining experience and left very disappointed.
We were seated outside immediately next to the restaurant next door. Unfortunately their music was louder than the music in this restaurant and combined with the party boat it did not make for an elegant evening.
The food was very nice although the steak not as requested (medium/well) as the waiter told me that it was best to eat it medium. Not what I had asked for.
We’d had such a long wait for food anyway so I didn’t want to send it back. I ate the outside and my husband ate the medium rare centre.
At no point we were asked if the meals were satisfactory or whether we’d like more drinks. I wasn’t even asked if I wanted a dessert! No upselling here at all.
The staff were ok apart from a surly waiter who couldn’t even work out our bill or what we’d had.
Disappointing tbh.

The concierge at our hotel recommended this for a nice sunset meal. They forgot to mention its very expensive! The food and service was good, with a different person assigned to almost every interaction. One issue was that we had someone with food allergies so as our main server came she asked if anyone had allergies. They discussed what could meet these requirements, however, someone else served that person's meal and thank god we checked as they included things he could not consume so they needed to re-prepare the meal. All the other dishes were good. They claim one of their house specialties is their caesar salad. We tried it but while they have a special house dressing our salad was more soup as they over did the dressing and never asked about how we'd like it.
The other fish dished and lamb were good. We didn't have desert. Yet the meal for four was over $100 per person+tax and tip.

I had a very underwhelming experience at this restaurant. The food was good. However, the service and the staff were by far the rudest. This is a beautiful restaurant location seated on the Caribbean Sea. On arrival, my friends and I snapped a few pictures of the beautiful sunset. While we were doing this, the staff members told us to sit down. When we finally received our food, we noticed that tables around us were finally being seated. The manager came out and acknowledged and swiftly checked on the tables around my friends and I. Not one time did he come by our table and check on us. This did not happened once, this happened several times in which we seen him go to each table around us stopping to speak and provide them with whatever their needs/request were. As he walked around our table, he turned his head away as to not make eye contact with us. I am not sure if that was a racial discrimination issue or stereotype issue, but I was highly disappointed of the service especially from a fine dining restaurant like this. One positive thing about this dining experience, was our waiter was seemingly nice not very quick or attentive but nice. I would not recommend this restaurant Especially if you are a POC.
