My wife and I recently enjoyed a lovely meal at Champers. It was a 30 minute cab ride from our hotel on the west side of the island but it well worth the trip even though I am still struggling to figure out how taxi fares are calculated on this island. That is a probably a conversation for a different review. Our reservation was for 8 PM and we were immediately seated at an oceanfront table in our own corner where we had a beautiful view of a turbulent ocean. Unlike some of the beachfront restaurants on the west side of the island where we were staying, there wasn’t much to see other than the expanse of the ocean and a few navigational lights blinking off in the distance so .... if you are hoping to see beach or swaying palm trees or people, that is not in the cards. To start we shared a poached calamari salad special that was fantastic and spinach salad with romain hearts (both pictured). We thought they were both amazing and the standout was the calamari. For our entrees we shared the curried prawns and a cajon Mahi Mahi. Everything was cooked perfectly and we enjoyed the food and wine immensely. We thought the service was good but not amazing and we liked the decor and vibe of the establishment. We certainly would recommend Champers but I am not sure if I would recommend it with the long taxi ride given the myriad of great choices we had so close to where we were staying - just food for thought if you are planning out your trip. When I lived in Barbados it was my favorite restaurant and every time I return I make sure to get to the south coast and enjoy the excellent food that is reasonably priced. Perched on the rocks above the splashing waves with endless views of the ocean is well....Priceless. Making a booking for a table is quick and the request for an Oceanside table is usually met depending on the time of day and the season. The wine list a fairly substantial, the meals deliciously prepared and affordable. Save room for the desserts. I would recommend this restaurant to any one who enjoys great food at a price that will not bankroll you.

On every holiday we choose one restaurant to hopefully provide a special night and on this occasion it was Champers, and what a great decision it was. We booked from the UK to ensure a table overlooking the sea which only enhanced the experience. Service was great throughout although maybe a couple of the staff could be a bit more relaxed and both the scope of the menu and the food preparation was top class. The cuisine was absolutely to die for on every course. The ambience was great with lively but not overbearing vibe. Sure, prices are premium (on what’s an expensive island anyway), with 3 courses, cocktails and a bottle of wine costing 410 Barbadian dollars (c£200) but we still felt we got value for money in what we both agreed was a restaurant experience that made out all time ‘top 5’. We’d certainly recommend pushing the boat out at Champers for that special night

We decided to go for our Anniversary lunch to take in the beautiful view, so glad we did, the weather was perfect for sitting 'seaside'. We ate from the lunch time menu with a bottle of wine and cocktails and whilst not cheap of course we thought it was excellent value for money given the quality of the food and the very attentive service. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Cajun spicy fish tasty but a little too tasty for someone who puts hot sauce on everything. Lamb chops nothing special, but when I asked for some sweet potato mash it made my meal special. Little art gallery above was fun to poke around.

We thought we would treat ourselves and give Champers a visit. It is in a nice elevated position overlooking the sea but other than that I can honestly say, I wish we hadn’t. It is expensive so it is fair to expect quality food which, in my opinion, we didn’t get. I had the Parmesan encrusted barracuda, as it is something I have never tried before. I found the fish to be dry which to me means it is overcooked. It came with mashed potato which was also dry and not very buttery. The mustard sauce it came with was minimal and certainly not enough to make up for the dry fish and potato. I had the bread pudding for dessert which was very soggy in the middle so probably not cooked enough. In all I would say that my food was nothing more than ok. Having asked my partner about her meal, she says the same. The restaurant was busy when we went but in what is supposed to be a high end restaurant, this shouldn’t detract from the quality of the food. There are better and cheaper restaurants to try in the area.

We visited Champers for lunch, we had the 3 course lunchtime menu, it’s a great setting and the place is so fresh and clean, we had a great table overlooking the ocean. The food was amazing could not fault anything totally outstanding, the waiting staff were attentive without being overbearing and knew their stuff. I had the crab crepe delicious and my husband the coconut shrimps to start, I had barracuda as my main,I had not had this fish before it was very tasty and didn’t disappoint, Hubbie had lamb shank, a very large shank full of meat, all very good. Would recommend this 100%.

I noticed that the restaurant had just reopened and looked at the online menu and previous reviews. Our lunch there was very much enjoyed and clearly a lot of work had gone into preparation of dishes. Many a la carte options also appear on the three course lunch menu, which gave plenty of choices and is sensibly priced. Parking was easy in their large car park opposite the entrance, reception and service was attentive, and table overlooked the sea. Our bill for two lunches, two glasses of merlot, and a bottle of sparkling water was 258 BDS (129 USD or 100 GBP) Very good value for Barbados !

I was treated to dinner for my birthday and I must say that Champers did not disappoint. The setting and ambiance is beautiful; great for a special occasion. And the table was set with a personalised menu for my birthday with my picture on it. Nice touch! The staff were on point and friendly. I honestly can't pick fault with my visit, hence the 5 star review. And they had a special 3 course menu priced at $110 BBD per person which was great value for money and was made up of items from the main menu. There were 2 of us and we had 2 cocktails each and the 3 course menu, as well as an additional starter and our bill came to about $437 BBD with service charge. I recommend the red lentil and coconut soup (if it is being served that day) and the white chocolate cheese cake, which was to die for. The lamb shank was ok, but preferred the beef that my friend ordered. I have attached some photos of the food. This is a must visit restaurant in Barbados. Thank you Champers!

We visited Champers for a friend's 60th while on holiday nearby. When I booked (on line) I was asked name of birthday person. We were warmly welcomed and friend wished Happy Birthday. On our table were personalised menus with birthday wishes to my friend. Service was polite and efficient throughout. The menu gave plenty of choices with extra options on separate menu which changes on regular basis. We were offered tap water and given tasty bread rolls (3 for 2 people was little odd!) with choice of oils and vinegars. The ceviché was superb and extremely filling. My friend had soup of the day - fish chowder which was very flavoursome. I followed with seared tuna served rare with soba noodles, tempura veg and dressings. Birthday special was lobster which was large, well cooked and tasty. Choice of carb and served with perfectly cooked veg. Good wine list but remember all imported so cheapest white (Pinot Grigio) was £30 but at least a good one. Brandy basket, ice cream and firework on decorated plate, finished birthday meal. Total BD$ 380 approx. £150. Beautiful place, excellent food, perfect service - definitely worth it.

Champagne on arrival, restaurant was very busy but the service was efficient and very friendly. We enjoyed a five course meal including seared tuna and fillet Mignon which were cooked perfectly. Each course arrived and was delicious. A real party atmosphere saw everybody up on the dance floor before fireworks at 12. A brilliant evening once again.

Well where do i start on this amazing experiance. Everything was perfect and i mean everything. I booked this restaurant for a waterside table almost 4 months prior to my holiday to Barbados after seeing the rave reviews. Absolutely worth the wait. When arriving we knew straight away we was in for a treat from the outside to walking through to reception with massive smiles and welcoming, we was took to our table and we had booked for 6:15 to see the sunset with my partner and just wow was it amazing. As soon as we was sat we was offered water (bottle or tap) and brought fresh warm bread to nibble at. The menu’s are fantastic and if you let them know its a special occasion they will personalise the menu’s for you. We knew it would be pricey but this was the one meal we wanted all out for everything. Our lovely lady who served us was absolutely fantastic, and when i mean fantastic i mean top class. She helped me with my choices and guided me through my picks excellently. And she was spot on with everything. The food is to die for, proper fresh and you can taste every flavour and element to each dish. I had the camambert pasty starter and the fish and shrimp pasta main. My partner had scallops and chicken breast. We never wanted the meal to end. Some people can be funny about tipping statutory and i can see why when some places people aren’t fussed because they know they will recieve a tip, honest to god i would of tipped 30%+ for the service we recieved. the cocktails and prosecco are also fantastic and we certainly will be back.

Wonderful dining experience. I emailed the resteraunt we were celebrating my girlfriends 40th birthday, when we arrived every member of staff said happy birthday, there were personalised menus printed and given a perfect seafront table decorated. The service was exemplary, the food cooked to perfection, the drinks were great and a celebration indoor firework with a sing song of Happy birthday. Made to feel very special in a very special setting so the prices reflect this perfectly. You might notice I've used the word perfect a lot, and it sums it up, a perfect evenings dining

We've only been back from Barbados for a day (and straight into a country with another national Covid lockdown looming, which will date this review), and we've been there many times before, but this was the first time we'd eaten at Champers, and one of my few regrets about the holiday is that we'd never tried it sooner! The food, drinks and service were fantastic! We usually have a "special meal" once when we're in Barbados, but being as this was about half of the price of the restaurant we usually use for this (I won't name them), and even better in all of our opinions, then I can't help feeling that we've lost out before. I ate the pork tenderloin dish, and I'm not a big pork eater, but the pork melted in my mouth and the jus that came with it was georgeous! I wish we'd visited earlier in our holiday, because if we had we would definitely have been back again, but we only came because it was my mother's 70th Birthday, and if you have a relative with a birthday whilst you're in Barbados then allow me to let you into a little secret... Whilst I was emailing Champers to arrange our booking, and I mentioned that we were coming for my Mum's 70th Birthday, Chiryl advised me that if I emailed her a photograph of my Mum that they could put it on the ftont of the menus for our table. This was a fantastic idea, a lovely touch, and when my Mum came to our table and saw the menu she burst into tears! Also, I enquired about a birthday cake for my Mum after the meal. Champers asked us whether we would like the cake as our dessert or whether we would like it as a presentation after our dessert to take home with us. In the event, we're glad we asked to have it to take home with us, because not only were their desserts beautiful, but we could never have finished the cake as our dessert! In fact we took it back to our villa, and when we left to come home 3 days later there was still some left! The food, drink and setting were fantastic! Unfortunately my mother's health means that she won't be able to come back to Barbados again, but I love the island, and when I next come back Champers is straight on my list. And it should be on yours!

We visited 3 highly recommended fine dining restaurants during our holiday and this was by far my favourite. Advance booking was easy, no CC required and we were immediately seated at a waterfront table as requested. Gorgeous location perched on a headland over a beach with 270 degree views over the ocean. We had several sudden pop-up rainstorms during dinner but didn't get at all wet under their unique "awning". Service was unobtrusive and correct, food was very good and it was less expensive than our #2 pick. Loved it so much I'm seriously considering staying at one of the hotels on their beach next time, so I can dine there every night! Highly recommend.
