A delicious meal is enjoyed in the open air as the soft tropical breeze wafts by and colourful boats glide across the water. The wonderful menu at 1609 Bar & Restaurant is a masterpiece of casual elegance, the cocktails are amazing, and the uninterrupted harbour views are spectacular. 1609 takes its name from the year that the Sea Venture shipwrecked on Bermuda’s shores and the first colony was born. We celebrate that sea-going spirit in our menu, which stars seafood: ceviche, golden fried shrimp, fish tacos and much more, alongside laid-back favourites like Peri-Peri wings, fresh fish, burgers and salads.

My family and I had a dinner reservation at 1609 on a beautiful fall evening. We split appetizers, which were both delectable. We each got refreshing drinks. The 1609 special yacht club was one of the best whiskey drinks I've had in a long time. The server, Yogi, told us about the locally caught special swordfish dinner they had that night and that there were only two remaining. My dad and I instantly ordered the last 2 dinners. We are so lucky to get the last two. This swordfish was the best meal I have ever had!! I am not exaggerating, I've been thinking about it ever since and I don't want to order fish anymore because my expectations are now way too high. I can not emphasize enough how amazing this dish was! Each bite sent my taste buds on a magical journey through the deep blue seas of taste, moisture and honest happiness. If I had the option of a lifetime supply of free food, or eating this meal one more time, I would easily choose the 1609 special. I can figure out everything else while sitting in pure bliss with a gorgeous view of the Hamilton harbor. We told our server how much we loved the meal and he had the manager come out and show us pictures of the fish they caught that we had just eaten. Both the Server and the Manager went above and beyond with their service making us feel special. Not only did we enjoy the best dinner I have ever had, but the service was top notch! I've been to 1609 before and always loved it, but this experience blew me out of the metaphorical water that the scrumptious fish was caught in. It is a must visit when you are in Bermuda. Thank you so much to 1609, Yogi, and the Manager and the chef! Hats off to all of you, I can not wait to return. To each and every one of you who helped contribute to our evening, I love you!

I was joined by several colleagues for a celebratory lunch on a weekday. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Alex was extremely attentive, accommodating, and knowledgeable of the menu. Highly recommended for the food, the service, and the views of the harbour.

1609 has always been one of my favorites due to food and service. I haven't been back since Covid, however the staff took every precaution to ensure we were safe and enjoyed celebrating my birthday. The service was impeccable, food was truly delicious and to top off being serenaded with a slice of scrumptious multilayered chocolate cake....they even gave me a birthday card signed by the staff!! Talk about personal touch! My son screamed out "this is the best restaurant ever!"

When we arrived at the hotel, we were told that this was the “nicer” restaurant on the property. It does have a lovely location over the water. It is prettily appointed in hardwoods and windows. sunset views are possible from one side of the restaurant. However, the place is absolute bedlam. Television screens ring a wide bar area showing sports of all kinds (sports bar?). Tables of families with their children running wild or in strollers in the aisles were everywhere (family dining?). Some customers were dressed elegantly and there were candles on the table (couples night out?). Menu is limited and attempts to aggrandize some bar foods (Korean chicken wings) intermixed with scattered in theme. Odd fusion combos. salads are limited. I had a Pad Thai special. This was nice but nothing to rave about. Service was helpful but between the loud conversations, music and kiddie bedlam, you really could not converse with the server or anyone you are seated with. If you are looking for a refined, elegant dining experience, go somewhere else on the island- there are tons of amazing choices outside of this property. Management needs to decide what this thing is- who is the client base you are targeting and intending to serve. After that the food, table arrangements and the like will flow. I would not go back.

We had the most wonderful evening tonight at 1609. Dinner was absolutely delicious. I started with the watermelon salad with feta cheese and my wife adored the fried peach salad with blue cheese and candied walnuts. We had non-alcoholic watermelon Mojitos to accompany our lobster tail and flatbread entrees and the most delicious 10-layer chocolate cake for dessert. Our server, Yogi, was extremely attentive and polite without being intrusive. What a fantastic evening on the water.

We had a fabulous night at the reopening of the newly renovated 1609 on the 6th of August. The food was excellent but the service by all the staff &, especially, Lloyd & Yogi was exceptional. To be welcomed with champagne & have a special dessert, with singing, on the occasion of our anniversary made it a night not to forget & we treasure the memories fondly. Wishing everyone involved continued success & congratulations on a job well done.

As a resident of Bermuda deciding not to travel this year due to the pandemic, I’m enjoying all things local this year and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my multiple visits to 1609 Restaurant over the past few months.
All of the staff are great and attentive to guests and mostly importantly in this current climate, with their sanitization protocols in place, I feel safe dining at 1609.
Maxison, who I think is in a management role there is wonderful and recognizes me now and we always have a chat. And the other manager who is often on duty when I visit is also friendly with his greetings. I’m sorry that I don’t know his name.
Most recently, I have been impressed with the service of Aris, who remembered my drink of choice on one of my last visits. Alex, who also was serving food and beverage at the pool recently was also great on my last visit to 1609.
There is another more mature gentleman, I wish I could recall his name who is always very great with his service. Another notable employee was Gladys when she served me recently.
Finally, I’d like to give credit to Alshontae who is at the entrance when guests walk in. She is always very pleasant and efficient when greeting and seating guests and was very helpful last weekend when I booked my next reservation for this weekend.
Credit to the entire team at 1609 for creating a wonderful and safe dining experience and with the season ending, I can’t wait to come back multiple times next year.

Headed to 1609 for an early dinner with my hubby without reservations and sadly was disappointed when they couldn’t accommodate us in the main dining room. However Lloyd saw us exiting and figured out a perfect location for us on the marina deck shaded by a well placed umbrella. This was a repeat visit for us and it is the service, food and view that beckons us back. Our server Ohla did a great job of preemptively thinking of our needs and gave us wonderful recommendations for our meal. We shared the perfectly spiced Korean wings, and cooled it off with a second course salad. The citrus atop the rocket salad was a welcome freshness after our spicy wings. The mahi fish tacos were nicely matched by the recommended fries. Although we split everything our tummies were happy and full. Our night was rounded out with the apple crumble whose warmth juxtaposed with the cold ice cream hit the spot. Ohla and Lloyd made what could have been a sour night sweet with great memories as we clinked our glasses celebrating our 30th anniversary! The service will bring us back 1609!

My wife and son were visiting from Boston, to get away from the pandemic, and wanted to enjoy a nice meal out. We arrived early evening to ensure that we got a table by the open window. Every possible nice touch was in force at 1609 - great care taken to protect against infections, even with a paper bag to place one's mask while dining! The property is great fun, because you walk through some lovely grounds with cool statues on your way to the restaurant. I can not recall the specifics of our dinner orders (sorry) but each was very well prepared and appealing to both mouth and eye. We loved dining at 1609 and will return again soon.

Stopped by for (a long) lunch and shared a few dishes that my girlfriend and I both enjoyed - poke salad, fried shrimp and especially the rum BBQ pork ribs. For drinks, we had the extremely refreshing picante and your highness.
This was one of our favourite meals we had on our trip. The location of the restaurant was beautiful, food and drinks were delicious and our server, Mandy was attentive, friendly and gave us recommendations for hidden gems around the island.
We would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Bermuda and we hope to be back soon!

We stayed at the Hamilton Princess, so 1609 was our first meal by the pool. We decided to split the tuna tostada and immediately realized our mistake - fell in love at first bite and all knew we needed our own. We went back to 1609 that same night for dinner! Lloyd the manager introduced himself and Yogi and Jaswyn were our servers with on-point recommendations throughout the meal. Although it was our first time in Bermuda, and we had to try other restaurants, we kept coming back to 1609 up until our last meal before our flight - they were only serving what looked like an amazing prix fixe brunch, but when Lloyd heard we had come by just for tostadas, he checked with the chef to see if they could make an exception and prep them for us. Honestly, just above and beyond. Can't recommend this place enough: delicious food/drinks/desserts and an incredible staff, all framed by a beautiful view of the harbor. 10/10

I came to 1609 for the ocean views, and I’m going to come back for the incredible service.
I initially chose to dine at 1609 because I love the location/floor to ceilings windows overlooking the ocean. Never disappoints. It’s been a while since I’ve written any reviews, but I feel the need to given the exceptional service by our waitress Mandy (/Mandi(?)). Right from the onset Mandy greeted us with a super friendly positive attitude, you could see her smiling despite the facemask. She was really helpful with menu suggestions and although some of us find the menu limited when it comes to veggie/vegan options, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal and she really made our overall experience lovely. Hopefully more veggie/vegan options keep getting added to the menu/specials. So far so good! Will definitely be returning ASAP!

As this was my third time dining at this establishment, I knew what to expect. We were there celebrating my oldest son’s graduation from The Berkeley Institute in Bermuda. His favorite item on the menu is their Fruit Punch which he would rave about almost everyday since his last visit. Our waitress, Florina, was very polite and prompt with her service and the food, as always, was outstanding!! They sat us next to the window, so the view of the sunset was breathtaking, which could be seen from any seat in the house. I definitely recommend 1609 for any upcoming event, family dinner, or evening for two… you won’t regret it!

1609 is one of the best places we’ve seen so far in Bermuda. Scenery is spectacular! Food is really great and I enjoyed drinking swizzle. Service was amazing as well- our waiter Olha was super nice, fast, and helpful:). She recommended us couple dishes that we really liked:
Veggie pad tai, Tuna poke entre with fried rice, Tom yum rice noodle bowl and Pineapple passion fruit moose for dessert.
As a matter of fact my friends and I had amazing evening, great laughs and way too much food and drinks of course. What can I say we really enjoyed it to the fullest and I can really recommend this place for nice evening date or cozy celebration with company of friends .

I booked a surprise dinner for my boyfriend’s birthday yesterday and have never received better service at 1609... and it was all because of our server Mandy. She not only managed a table of 20 by herself but was able to accommodate desired seating arrangements and changes to the set menu by guests. She sang happy birthday with us (twice!), and brought out two decorated pieces of cake that we weren’t expecting. I loved her so much, I wish she joined us for dinner. If you get her as your server when you dine at 1609, consider yourself lucky!
