About
The White Horse building, previously known as The Esten House, has a history dating back to the mid 1700's. In 1929, the Esten House building was purchased by William Frith, and extended slightly southerly towards the waterfront edge. In 1930, Ye Olde White Horse Tavern opened its doors, which was at that time a bar and hotel. In the mid 1960’s and again in 1980's, extensions of the building were developed southerly, directly on the waterfront's edge. The White Horse Pub & Restaurant remains a St. George’s landmark still today amongst locals and visitors alike.

We stopped here during a round-Bermuda excursion. The restaurant is located right at the St George's Harbor. This is a great location, with views of the sailboats that are in port. The menu offers a fine selection. We had the Lobster Bisque and the Fish & Chips, both wonderful.. The wait-staff were friendly and attentive.
Beside the good food the highlight of our visit were the fish swimming under our table. We were entertained by the giant Parrot fish that hung out waiting for the occasional snack.

The service and food were A M A Z I N G! The nicest welcome to the island you could ever ask for. The food was supberb and the beer was cold and just what some weary travelers needed. If you are hungry and thisty - you should stop in here. The will take very good care of you!

This restaurant is located on the water in a tourist area and the prices reflect that. Otherwise, we had a nice lunch with great service. We had the Bermudian fish sandwich served with a generous portion of fries. If you have never had a Bermudian Fish Sandwich, it is something to try, We also each had a non-alcholic beverage. With the 18% gratuity the bill was just under $80.

New management got everything right BUT food! Great setting, music, vibe. Fish 'n chips definitely NOT delicate batter fried as expected. Kids wouldn't eat tasteless chicken tenders Saw a patron feeding her dry burger to the fish. After a a great tv promotion I was expecting taste that matched the images. It simply did not.
Gourmet not expected but simply GREAT ordinary food is! Owners who don't know good food should hire those who excel. BLU, Mad Hatters, tiny Chatterbox Cafe in Wash. Mall, all serve better fare than most with exception of the Little Venice eateries at the upper end and a few hotel kitchens, Very sad.
We can detect FOODSERVICE even if we can't see the packaging! Hint: Center menus around what's in season and hire a competent food pro to work with available foods.
Until a competent chef is recruited I will NOT support or recommend one more uninspiring business venture launched by owners who dumb down food in the belief that we don't know better! Bermudians are evolving and appreciate more than before. Competition like Generosa's is moving from obscurity in the west, to Front St. because of taste that locals have traveled for and responded to enthusiastically
WHT should get ahead of bad reviews with a creative chef who knows REAL food, buck this advice and exist solely on seasonal cruise traffic or get ready for closure.

So my friends and I attended Brunch and it was not a great experience.
First there was hair in the avocado toast.
Then the service was very slow because it was really busy
The food took forever to reach the table.
Two of my friends ordered steak and eggs and asked for medium and when the steak arrived it was well done. Again nobody to really complain to because there aren’t enough severs.
The chicken and waffles were awful. The waffle was tough and cold and the chicken was also a little tough. The french toast didn’t have any flavour at all. The best part of the meal was the alcohol.

It's quite an ordeal these days to just stop in a restaurant to dine, shop anything, masks required, sanitise hands, stay 6 feet away from others etc etc. Anyway, today I actually relaxed and enjoyed the food whilst still being served by wait staff wearing masks. They were pleasant and attentive and the food was good.

We stopped here after a day at Tobacco Bay at the recommendation of a local woman we met on the bus. We had a table with a view of the harbor in the covered veranda. The food was delicious (I had fish and chips and my fiancé had chicken curry) and came quickly. Our server was very friendly giving suggestions of local sites and another staff also came to our table to give recommendations for the best place to see the sunset and to go diving. The meal for 2 was $70 (18% gratuity is automatically included and we obviously left above that). I would definitely return here.

My fish sandwich was tasteless, dry & imported. Kids would NOT even eat the chicken nuggets they were so unappetizing to look at, much less taste. Waiter had to be hunted for the check. Outside a woman was feeding her hamburger to the fish she said because it was inedible!!! We're both locals and agreed this place has ambience but for food go to Hamilton to eat.
A capable team in the kitchen could turn the place around but until then I will NOT return!

Well? could have been better. We understand Bermuda is pricey but paying $125 for a pub like dinner (I had a burger , my wife had a salad/w fish) would be really tastey and good. It was just avaerage. The burger was very good, but the salad with fish was very small and bland. Fries were not fresh and were not hot. The staff was very attentive and helpful, but they need help in the kitchen I think. Cheers.

My husband and I ordered two soft drinks and two pieces of cheesecake. It was mid- afternoon, and there were very few people in the restaurant. We thought we would get our order quickly. After 30 minutes, we only had our soft drinks. We asked about our cheesecake as we had not thought it would take thirty minutes to slice a piece of cheesecake and put it on a plate. The waiter said we could get it to go. We said no thank you- just bring us the bill for the two soft drinks.

We had ridden to St. George for the afternoon and we’re ready for lunch. Fish and chips were authentic. Fish tacos were perfect - you can taste the freshness of the fish. Be sure to save some French fries to feed the fish - they have some beautiful enormous parrot fish as well as a lot of other varieties that hang around and are used to leftovers! Expect typical Bermuda prices!

Good waterfront setting to have lunch at, but couldn't get over the jaw-dropping prices for decent pub food (at best). Example: two fish tacos (with nothing else included and no drinks) will set you back $38.55 when the mandatory 17% gratuity is included. Eat slowly to enjoy each $19.28 taco...

It is good to see that others have had a good experience at this pub. For us it was our worst experience during a 16 day holiday in Bermuda.
We had not eaten lobster for some time but given the setting and good service we decided to push the boat out and share a lobster. I ate the fried chopped bread on top of my lobster keen to get to the meat underneath. However there was nothing underneath and my wife’s half of the lobster, or lack of it, was the same, just stuffed with bread! They had hollowed out the whole thing. Maybe it made lobster sandwiches for other customers that we inadvertently paid for? It was so disappointing as it was the only bad thing that happened to us during the whole Bermuda trip.
We complained to the waitress who was sympathetic and did not seem totally surprised and said that she should have been in the kitchen - whatever that meant! She called the manager, a polite elegant gentleman, who was also sympathetic but said as I had eaten the bread he could not refund the cost of the meal but could give us a 20% discount! We paid our bill and found somewhere else for our dessert and coffee.
At no time did the management deny what had happened, however given the evidence this would have been difficult to do.
We put this down to bad luck in our choice of pub but we were further saddened to find out later when checking the revised bill that we had not been given a 20% discount at all as the pub had charged the service on the original total before the 20% compensation which we considered to be rubbing salt into the wound. We were quite happy to pay this tip to the waitress who had given us good service but dismayed that whoever it was in the kitchen who had pulled this trick on us still got their full tip as well as our lobster.
In any case, no amount of discount could have made up for our ruined day out in St. George’s.
These people have no shame. Our otherwise excellent Bermudian holiday will always be tainted by the experience of lunching at The White Horse Inn.

We were recently in Bermuda on a cruise. We had one whole day in St. George's so decided to have lunch @ the White Horse Pub. Great place, excellent service and good food. Dined on the outside covered porch in view of St George's town hall and waterfront. Had fish and chips with local fish stew a generous serving along with the local rum punch drinks. A bit expensive, but hey it's vacation ! Recommend

They had music playing and no wait. We sat outside and ordered swizzle drinks which were very sweet and attracted the bees. My husband got the fish tacos, and I get the catch of the day sandwich which was wahoo. The entrees came with fries which the staff encouraged us to feed the fish if we didn't want it all. We did feed the fish and the ducks! Our meal came to just over$100 which we felt was to much for what we got.
