Located right on Eagle Beach across from Amsterdam Manor, Passions on the Beach is quite an incredible dining experience. The gorgeous setting itself is 5 star worthy but in conjunction with fantastic food and wonderful service it becomes truly memorable.
Like many reviewers have mentioned, try and get a reservation at a time when you can watch the beautiful Aruban sunset, right at the waters edge, feet in the sand and a cocktail in hand. We had reservation for 6:30pm which was a few minutes before the predicted sunset for the day. We decided to show up about 15 mins early and luckily for us they already had our table ready at around 6:15pm. We were seated without any further ado, primed to enjoy a frequent yet mesmerising spectacle of nature. We got one of the tables in the front row, which is exclusively for parties of 2. The tables for larger parties are in the 2nd and 3rd rows of seating. Our affable server Frandrick started us off with a couple of cocktails and let us take our time to take in the view, the ambience and the pristine surroundings. We did not feel rushed at all to order our entrées and we really appreciated that the staff encouraged us to enjoy the experience to the fullest.
When we were ready for food we decided to order the samosa turnover and the pasta with vegan schnitzel. Both entrées were mouthwateringly delicious. POTB is definitely on the expensive side and a lot of times these types of restaurants bank on their exclusivity and dish out mediocre food. Glad to say that Passions definitely does not fall in this category. The samosa turnovers were more like empanadas but they were excellent accompanied by a delightful ratatouille and a side of lavender polenta. The schnitzel was perfectly crispy and complemented by tender penne pasta served with tomato salsa. Throughly enjoyed our meal to the point where I would have licked my plate clean. Even though we were stuffed we had to try the dessert and the creme brulee did not disappoint. Classic yet flawlessly executed, it was a fitting end to a sumptuous meal and a phenomenal dining experience. Also a shout out to the lovely gentleman who serenaded us with his wonderful violin playing all throughout. It was so good that for half the time I thought it was recorded music till I actually turned around to see him playing in the back.
Passions on the beach is one of those phenomenal settings which you would normally think only existed in travel magazines. Everything from the setting to the food was such a treat that I would be amiss not to encourage people to experience it.

The ambiance at Passions never disappoints. However there were a few things during this visit that bothered me. First before we were seated we were told the credit card machine was going in and out and asked if we had cash. Odd since they are part of the hotel and can easily take cards to the hotel. Plus they were only sharing this information with some guests as they were seated. Not sure why we were singled out, but I was insulted. We were dressed well and there was no reason for that. Next when we ordered I asked if my kids could have French fries with their pasta instead of vegetables and mentioned that I’d pay for a price increase if necessary. I was just told no. Odd not to even be told well we don’t do substitutions but you can buy an order of fries for $5-8. It was also our anniversary and I put that in the reservation. This was probably our 6th or 7th time at this restaurant and every time in the past that we were there for an occasion someone at the very least acknowledged it but most of not all brought out a sparkling dessert. This time no one even said Happy Anniversary. So maybe customer service has just gone down hill. That was the negative- on to the positive! I had the Chilean sea bass and it was AMAZING! We frequent Del Frisco’s often and I think I might have preferred the version here so that says a lot! My husband had the coconut grouper, I tasted it and was blown away by how good it was. We also had the watermelon salad and the ahi tuna poke, both delicious! So the food was absolutely amazing, the ambiance was amazing. The service could use some work.

Dear JPhilips,
Belated congratulations with your recent anniversary and our sincere apologies for the fact that this was not recognized by the team as it should have been on the evening of your dinner at our restaurant Passions on the Beach. The situation with the credit cards occurred not only in the restaurant but unfortunately also in the Resort, it was only at the end of the next day that the bank solved this, sorry for the inconvenience caused. We were pleased to learn that you enjoyed the ambiance and the food. We thank you for your comments which helps us in improving our services.
Kind regards,

No reservation but graciously accommodated. Lovely setting right on the sand Eagle Beach. Food was good. Service outstanding. A little pricier than similar establishments but you are paying for the beach experience as well as the food. Nice touch was available insect repellent spray at hostess stand to keep bugs at bay while dining. 2 appetizers 3 entrees 1 dessert 1 bottle of wine and a cocktail $250 US before tip. Service was impeccable. The only reason 4 stars instead of 5 is prices were higher than similar restaurants. Have pics of food will add if I can

Really enjoyed the evening with friends at passions on the beach - fantastic setting! Antoine was an amazing server making our final night out with friends worth the visit.
The meals were excellent for being prepared in such a small beachside kitchen and the desert surprise for two was a nice finish.
Unfortunately there were a couple of glitches which prevented us from rating passions a perfect five...the host at check in said they didn’t have our reservation for six - we booked thru the Amsterdam so something to address, but after a few minutes of stress they were able to get us a perfect spot (there aren’t any bad spot on the beach at sunset).
The really unfortunate issue was a horrible sewer smell occasionally drifting thru that end of eagle beach. Had it been constant we would have left as some patrons did. Reading on line this apparently has been an issue in that area. The town/Aruba should really address this as I’m sure it’s leaving a bad taste in every tourists mouth especially those staying in the area. Hopefully the local businesses are filing complaints as I’m sure this is hurting their tourist income.

Dear Rob, Thank you for taking the time to review about your experience at our restaurant Passions on the Beach. We are glad to learn that the setting was fantastic, that Antione was an amazing server, that the meals were excellent, and we appreciate your constructive feedback about the reservation glitch, and the occasional odor that evening caused by a malfunction at the Aruban water treatment plant. Once more thank you, and we hope to serve you again in the near future.

If you are looking to have a nice romantic dinner on the beach then I cannot recommend Passions on the Beach enough. It is located at the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort which we happened to be staying at. There were many couples dining here that were staying at other resorts but came here for dinner, which shows the quality of this restaurant and experience. You will definitely want to make a reservation and make sure it is around sunset so you can get the full experience of dining on an Aruban Beach at sunset. From the moment you walk down the wooden aisle lined with fire torches it screams romance. This would be a great option for a romantic dinner for two, however we saw plenty of families dining here as well. The service is impeccable, with the staff seemingly to know that you are ready to order before you yourself even know. They are on top of it here, and make you feel special and welcome. The food was fantastic. I opted for Ceviche to start and the most amazing dual fish meal as an entree, and finished almost every last bite. The Red Snapper special of the evening tasted as if it was encrusted in Coconut and it might have been my favorite Red Snapper of the trip! (And I ordered my fair share of Snapper while visiting Aruba!) The couple next to us ordered Steak and Lobster and were raving about their meal as well. I would say that Passions on the Beach checks all the boxes of everything you could want for a lovely Aruban Beach Dinner. You absolutely must add it to your list of places to try when visiting the island!

The restaurant is on Eagle beach area, low rise. It closes the kitchen at 9 pm, restaurant closes at 10:30 pm. Some kind of gourmet food, some options overpriced. Aruba has many good quality restaurants so you can get better food in the Palm beach area (high rise area) for better price. The setting is really nice, but honestly chairs are uncomfortable. It's a nice experience, the food is really good, better if you go with your romantic partner.

Hard to beat toes in the sand, perfect beach, perfect position for sunset, excellent service and wonderful food! We returned to Passions as our pick for Valentine’s dinner and made our reservations about 3 months in advance! We chose well for an elegant evening on a beautiful beach for a gorgeous sunset. When we came years ago, I remember about 12 tables. Now there are at least 45 tables. That tells you right there how popular this restaurant has become! A bride and groom came a little after sunset after they were just married to enjoy their first married dinner and celebrate.
Each table is classy with lovely white tablecloths, flowers, and cubes that light up different colors. Liked the red color of the cubes after sunset since it was Valentine’s Day. Thank you for the lovely red roses for the Ladies. Every table has their own tiki torch lit after sunset. They have upgraded to aluminum from the straw we had years ago that caught on fire!
Very attentive service! Our server made excellent suggestions for our meal. He was there for all elements of our meal. Very friendly and a jokester. Just maybe a little too casual for an elegant restaurant, but we were in the sand.
The fish soup appetizer, entrees of Mahi Mahi and coconut grouper were amazing and large portions. All excellent. Kudos to the chef for not only serving up delicious food, but hot and timely with such a crowd on a special evening.
Thank you Passions for making our experience delightful once again. We will return.

When you go to a restaurant, you go with hopeful expectations...Passions far exceeded those expectations. Passions boasts an amazing location. Beautiful white sand, the calming dance of the water gently rippling a short distance from where you dine and that Sunset...wow. Nature's unbelievable tapestry that adds unmatched delight. Our Host/Server for the evening was Avril. I say Host because my Wife and I felt as if we were a guest in her home. We asked her to take many pictures of us. While I am sure this is an endless request of her, she not only obliged but embraced this duty. She didn’t just take our picture, she repeatedly took our picture until she felt it was perfect. She even came back for more shots because she knew there was a moment that wasn’t just “good enough” but quintessential. Bravo to her. The food was amazing and the special dessert that helped celebrate our 20th year of becoming the other’s person? I don’t want to spoil the surprise but, let’s say its presentation made us want to frame it and hang it from the wall. (we did cave and eat it and it was outstanding!) It was one of the highlights of an amazing trip. We are so grateful. Thank you so much. Joe and Debbie Assante

Stopped in for dinner tonight since we hadn't been here in awhile. Nice outdoor seating on the beach. Our server, Jazmine was friendly and did check back to see how things were. My wife ordered the Coconut Grouper and I had the snapper and asked not to have the pickled onions. The food runner brought our meals out and auctioned them off, but got them wrong. The meals come in covered dishes and he held up one and asked who had the snapper. I said I did, so he placed it in front of me and put the other one in front of my wife. When he uncovered the dishes, mine had the pickled onions. OK, no biggie. When Jazmine came by to ask how things are, I told her about the onions and she said "oh boy" and looked at her order pad. Then, she told us that the dishes were reversed; the food runner had the dishes mixed up. Now, that might not be a big deal to some, however, it should not happen in a fine dining restaurant. Also, that's a problem when you have food runners. Both dishes were good. Prices are par for the course for a fine dining restaurant and the last time we were here, they added a 15% service charge but not this time. Overall, good place for dinner, but they do need to train the staff better on mask wearing; some noses were peaking out.

My husband and I visited Aruba for a short getaway. We quickly learned most goods are imported to the island, meaning we didn't have high expectations for food and meals.
On a whim, we decided to see if we could get a last minute reservation at Passions. We lucked out, and was able to reserve a table for prime sunset timing.
Upon walking in we were greeted by a lovely saxophone player. This really set the tone and ambiance for the evening. We were led to a table right by the shore. The table was set with a fun color changing cube and had a table side tiki torch. As we were handed menus, we noticed the menus had lights for patrons to see during the evening. Their attention to detail was truly appreciated!
For our entrees, I ordered the coconut encrusted grouper and my husband had the mahi mahi with bacon wrapped scallops. Both were FANTASTIC! The best meals we had during our getaway. The food was fresh, portions were large, and service was excellent.
If you're looking for a romantic experience with delicious food, Passions is for you!

We were at the Passions on the beach a few days ago for our last night dinner, well we can say we left the best for last. If we had known we would have eaten there a couple more times during the week, we will definitely visit there again on our next trip, We highly recommend you try it there , they have the best spot for watching the sunset they have live music that the musician play a little of everything, even take request. The people dancing during dinner and the staff are so happy and dancing and singing . We sat and watched them how they move ,its like they are doing a dance or something, it was fun to watch. Roxanne the Supervisor was very welcoming and jolly we felt right at home upon arriving for dinner, Nora our waitress was wonderful!! we noticed that not the fact that she was the supervisor but she was everywhere on top of everything, wow!! checking on tables, talking and laughing with the other guests, making them feel at home as well. The table next to us told us that it was first time for them at Passions and because of the welcome they receive at the entrance , they will definitely be coming back . Nora was right on point with our service and handle her area very professional. Could see that they really enjoy what they do. We had coconut grouper wow!! you have to try it. We don't really like to write reviews but decided that we would do this one because it was well deserved. The energy there was really great, felt like we didn't want to leave. Only issues for us was the bar, ordered drinks a couple of times and either they don't know how to make it or they don't want to but it was sad such a beautiful bar and not the right tenders, we understand it's a working progress, work on their people skill. But because of Nora and Roxanne we will definitely be visiting again. Job well done!! We own a Restaurant in New York and thought about offering Roxanne a job , we were impress!! Great asset. You do not want to g to Aruba and not visit Passions, they even arrange taxi for you when you are done, only downside is we had to wait across the street because of the road being fixed.

We made a 5:30 reservation for our 39th wedding anniversary. When we arrived the manager was not there to seat us. Another employee said we could sit at the bar until the manager came. After 20 minutes the manager arrived & said we could eat on the deck next to the bar because the beach seating wasn’t ready yet for another 30 minutes. It is called Passions on the Beach & since it was a special occasion for us we wanted a table on the beach. We were the only patrons there. The manager tried to explain that they were just starting back with seating on the beach. Unfortunately, their website never informed us of any issues. We declined sitting on the deck next to the bar & left. Sadly never to return again.

Dear BANemecek,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our restaurant Passions on the Beach. We sincerely apologize for the confusion with you reservation resulting in the fact that there was no table ready for you on the beach at 5.30pm which led to the fact that you left the restaurant without having a chance celebrating you anniversary. Yes we are starting up after a period of closure, but this is not an excuse for what happened. Once more we regret what happened.

My wife and I have been to Passions numerous times since its inception. My wife loves the grouper with banana sauce. I have never really like the menu or the food that much. A few years ago, they removed the grouper dinner my wife loved, and that was the last time we went back. On this 2 week trip, I noticed that the grouper dinner was back on the menu, so we decided to go back again. We were seated as close to the ocean as possible and the sunset was amazing. They now seat you at your table in a metal, unpadded folding chair with a white sheet over it. Very very uncomfortable especially sinking in beach sand all night. My wife's grouper dinner was very good but not great. I still didn't like the revised menu, so I got an inflated priced cheeseburger. This restaurant "traps" you in with sunset beach dining, but you tend to overlook the real reason you are there. The meals are overpriced and never cooked the same way twice. They present your dinners with metal covers over them and banged them together in anticipation of some luscious looking dinner for every dining patron. This ritual didn't make my cheeseburger look and taste any different than going to McDonalds!! We won't return again here in September when we return for another 2 weeks, but you should at least try it once and hopefully you will see through the mystique of beach dining.

I guess you are paying to eat on the beach because the food did not live up to the hype. It was ok but not worth the price. The ambiance and view can’t be beat especially if you go right at Sunset. Service was ok but again expected a lot more after reading some of these reviews.
