Typical canary dishes and fresh fish, all kind of types, prepared in many different ways. The restaurant is located in a side fairly quiet street, close to the sea. There's a covered area, some tables in the sun and a few more indoor. The service is less interesting: they got our orders wrong a couple of times (but we got to taste unexpected food!) and they disappeared few times. Terrible service. We had to eat here as it was the only place that was open during the holidays. So it made sense that we had to wait, however, we put our name down (8th on the list) and were disappointed we to see empty seats the entire time for example, there were 1 or 3 people sitting at a table of 4 or 6. The waiting list got to well below 10 and they still did nothing about this. We waited over an hour and when 3 tables cleared we still weren’t allowed to sit down as 6 and 7 were nowhere to be found. But would they let us sit down? No. We had to wait another 15 minutes to ensure 6 and 7 were nowhere in the vicinity. In the end we just sat in the vacant seats and ordered. The food was mediocre and the service didn’t improve. We had to order some things multiple times, some items never came.

Leading seafood and fish restaurant in La Restinga. Iron Seafood soup, shrimp, fried cheese. Chopitos, Cabrilla, Piña del Hierro and Limpets. That's what we ate, everything very delicious and fresh. I would give it a 5 stars, there are two things to keep in mind. The meal is 10. No stick, exquisite grilled fish salad, all recommended. Note the long wait before entering, once inside very quickly. Great place to try local fresh fish. I was recommended to try ‘Barracuda’ and it was mazing. Same as a steak, but fish meat. I also ordered ‘Camarones’ for started and they were super flavored and fresh, a delicatessen. Great gastro-experience!

this place is not located down on the waterfront and less touristic. the people running El Refugio are fisherfolks, serving mainly what they catch themselves. not all fish on the menue is available, as the sea does not provide every day what you would like to have. our favorite fish were not available at our visit, neither was the second choice, but with some asking back and forth we had an order together. the fish and seafood was fresh, done the very local way. some we liked more, some less. what else to say. best you try it yourself.

Fabulous fresh fish and service

We found this place in trip advisor and decided to check it out. Well worth drive down to La Restinga. We ordered mixed grill and were absolutely blown away by the quality of food and the customer service. They were very friendly and attentive! The fish came with three mojo type sauces and this was probably the best mojo we’ve had in the past month on several island. Definitely check it out if you’re anywhere near by!!
