We booked for 8 people at the last minute and we were accommodated with excellent service. The food was really good with quite a few specials. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and with tasty desserts as well and good beers we would highly recommend it.

The staff were very friendly and very hard working. We ordered the pie, which was really tasty, we didn't have room left for a sweet. When we are next in the area, we will certainly return

Delicious sea bass in a champagne and lemon sauce, fabulous risotto and thai fish cakes, fresh vegetables all beautifully cooked and competitive prices. A warm welcome and excellent service.

8 of us booked for lunch. Friendly welcome from bar staff. Plenty of space and not too busy. Limited choices. Most of us had roast pork or beef. There was also liver and goats cheese in the choices. Waiting staff weren't too friendly or polite....More

Another first class meal at The Malt Shovel. The starters (smoked salmon and a malt shovel smokie) were excellent. The mains (a goats cheese parcel and roast beef) were very good; especially the goats cheese parcel. The roast beef was good, but not particularly hot....More

We called in for a meal early one evening. I can understand why this place is so popular, the food is absolutely delicious! Before the waiter took our order, he placed a bottle of tap water on the table, which was such a good idea....More

Haven't been for 3 years....but based on our last experience we opted for this as a family gathering for my wife's birthday. In essence the punters that did not book were given priority over the two tables that did, one obviously was ours. 50 minutes...More

We visited on an evening with the family dog. The pub put us in the conservatory for our meal which was warm and welcoming. The staff were really helpful and attentive. Food was fantastic. Highly recommended!!

Hi, do you mean a covered outdoor smoking area? If so, I'm afraid we don't have one. Mark

Def book to ensure you get a table, it is a very busy place. The Sunday Lunch menu is small but something there for everyone and always cooked to perfection.
