First time to this lovely olde world inn and what a treat. Excellent service and exceptional food. Tasty, well cooked and plenty of it. We had soup, whitebait and pate to start followed by roast beef and roast pork. Deserts were also very good especially the chocolate and Welsh whiskey tart. Word of warning - we booked 2 days before... More

We travel to Tintern Abbey every year to escape the hustle bustle of London Life! the Anchor Inn has a special spirit and historic tradition coupled with its proximity to Tintern Abbey! We had a late morning coffee and cakes in the restaurant which we'd thoroughly recommend for all those seeking a really traditional pub!

We called in hoping for lunch after a freezing morning touring Chepstow castle and Tintern Abbey. The bar and restaurant looked very inviting, cosy tablets etc but we found the menu poor and nothing like the one photographed for the purposes of this website. The only vegetarian option was three bean chilli (not great for IBS) - there wasn't even... More

Stayed at the old rectory and booked for dinner at The Anchor and wow what a surprise. The food was fantastic. 3 course meal, coffee and wine/beers and was expecting a high bill, but again had a lovely surprise. Worth every penny and more. The staff are friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.

Came for Sunday lunch. Wasn't in the mood for a traditional roast so opted for the pan fried cod for a change. Best life choice made this year! Was so good and would recommend it to anyone! Other half had lamb roast and was very happy with that. Friendly staff, quick service and unbelievable food. A must for anyone passing.... More
