I am so glad we visited El Picante. The food is really tasty, fresh and home cooked and at a really reasonable price. Drinks are delicious and also really well priced. Jean the owner is also one of the friendliest and most interesting people we...have met on our travels. It was incredibly fascinating to chat to him and he made everyone feel very welcome. El Picante almost felt like home away from home for us both times we visited! Asante sana Jean!More

El picante is one of the best places we’ve eaten in Central America! Great cocktails (try the mango colada) and strong rum and Coke. Food was authentic and flavourful, but most importantly affordable for backpackers. John and team were so welcoming and attentive, a must...if visiting Ometepe!! P.s complementary chips and salsa whilst waiting for mains was an excellent touchMore

Absolutely fantastic restaurant! We came here for a budget-friendly evening meal which did not disappoint – the food was delicious, portions were generous (and came with free tortilla chips and salsa) but most of all the service was incredible. John and staff were so friendly...and made the whole experience our favourite of the trip so far.More

We had heard about this place through other travelers so we decided to give it a try. We had no clue it would be one of the best restaurants we would go to on our 21 day trip in Nicaragua. Jeany is one of the...most wonderful people I’ve ever met in my short 21 years of life, but spending time at this restaurant was one of my favorite memories from my trip, if not my entire life. We had even gone 2-3 times per day because the food was amazing, the drinks were AMAZING and cheap, and I can’t even begin on how amazing Jean was and the tonite experience he provided us with. The salsa was hands down the best I’ve had in my life and Jean grows the peppers for the salsa himself and it’s his own recipe!!! I often think about that salsa and how I wish I could have it again without traveling 2000+ miles away for it. I would make the travel just to come back to this restaurant and hang out with Jean again. I miss Jean and this restaurant. If I could recommend any restaurant on the entire island of Ometepe, it would be El Picante.More

Our experience was unparalleled by other restaurants in Moyogalpa and Ometepe. The owner was so kind, friendly, and such a hard worker. He truly wanted us to enjoy ourselves and the food. He offered recommendations for the food and also brought us out some chips...and dip for free (this has not happened in 2+ months of travelling). We appreciated that they offered service in French, english, Spanish and Swahili!More

This is a fabulous Mexican restaurant in the town of Myolgolpa on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua. It’s a few blocks straight up from the ferry landing. Jon mixes a mean drink, I had a passion fruit colada, and the food is authentic and...delicious. We were with a group of six who all ordered different meals and we all loved our food! Jon will make you feel at home the minute you walk through the door and is very generous with his time. I highly recommend this place!More
