Good, homestyle cooking. We had golda chingri and mutton curry, over and above the standard veg thali of sun to, dal etc. We rounded it off with some 'pithe' for dessert.

Excellent home style cooking- simple yet tasty! Truly Bengali style eating. Humble atmosphere , purely run by ladies other than the cash counter. Location is bang opposite to Bonolakshmi. Basic veg dish is so fulfilling that non veg ordered separately was difficult to finish, though...equally tasty. May be its the home style recipe & "sheel- e- bata" masala that made the difference in taste :-) Some home made ghee purchase is recommended for sure.More

Right opposite Bonolakshmi. Homely atmosphere, very attentive staff. Very tasty food. The smell and taste of home is evident. Good spread, typical bengali spread. Bonolakshmi is the crowded one; Barishaler Rannaghor, though not as crowded, I rate it as good as Bonolakshmi, if not better....No advance booking required here, while at Bonolakshmi, it is a prerequisite. Loved this cosy place.Had stopped for lunch one day and found their spread very different. The Mung dal was out of this world and so was the fish. We had Shorshe Tangra and it was too good. a bit spicy though but for us it...was perfect!!More

Visited this eatery recently with family, ordered what we wanted to eat the previous evening as that is the system followed here, food is prepared only against orders. The basic meal is a veg thali comprising of rice, ghee, lentils, shuhkto ( mixed veg in...a light gravy) , dhokar dalna and a seasonal chutney. To this you can order an egg, fish (check what's available), prawn, chicken or mutton curry . All the food is home style Bengali and tasty, the serving of rice is unlimited, a bottle of mineral/filtered water is included in the cost of the veg thali. They also make some traditional sweets which are quite good. Overall considering the distance from town , food quality, price and ambiance, its ok for a one time visit to Borishaler Ranna Ghar, meaning Kitchen.More

Really awesome home cooked food at this kitchen. We had veg thali and the food was fabulous. Posto vada can be ordered separately. Meat is available for non vegetarians. This is a hidden gem and we were lucky to have explored this.

Meaning kitchen in bengali, it looks like a traditional hotel offering good food at reasonable prices. The crowd at the hotel shows the popularity of the place.
