We were in Santiniketan on a short trip and was looking for change of appetite. After seeing the location and environment, we selected Ghare Baire. For a change, it was excellent. All the items ordered were very well prepared and to our taste. One Ram...Prasad extended great hospitality and ensured item availability to our requirement. To mention a few, Kosha mangsho, tandoori chicken, chingri malaikari, gobindo bhog rice were quite satisfactory.More

This cafe is located in beautiful surrounding next to a Govt. cinema hall in Bolpur. There is ample parking place. The building looks very pleasing and is kept clean( the toilets could be maintained better). You can choose to sit in the entrance or inside....Listen to lovely Rabindra sangeet musical. The service is friendly however our fresh lime water was so delayed that we had to cancel the order. We opted for fish curry( katla) thali @ Rs 250 ( excluding GST) only. The food is delightful specially the fish curry and cauliflower vegetable curry. The nolen gurer Rosogolla was delightful. The place was packed exhibiting its popularity.More

Ghare Baire is one of the popular restaurants in Bolpur - Shantiniketan. It serves traditional Bengali food. It has a nice decor. It’s good for dining for small groups as well as for parties. We ordered a vegetarian Thali plus fried Pomfret and Rehu. The...vegetarian Thali had Rice, Daal, Alu Poshto, Alu Parval, fried egg plant, salad, chutney and khajoor Rosogullas as Desert. Rosogullas were delicious. Quality of food was similar to Ram Shyam but the prices were double. One is paying for the ambiance and convenient location..More

I absolutely love this place. Though the food here is very good, what I liked more is the traditional Bengali dress of the staff and the beautiful plates and glasses. However, it is not pocket friendly and i not good for travellers with a tight...budget.More

Pros 1. Ambience is good 2. Veg Thali option was better than non-veg for lunch, Rice/Dal can be requested extra 3. Taste is good (specially paneer), portion size of curry is ok Cons 1. Price is on the higher side, around 250/head for lunch

A quaint little restaurant with ethnic furniture and fixtures. The ceiling is adorned with verses penned by the Bard himself with his trademark correction marks in flowing black ink which seem to acquire a life of their own once complete. Unfortunately, the good part of...your experience ends there. The food is mediocre at best. Do not order from the Indian or Chinese menu. The portions are enough for one person only. I did not order the Thali, so I have no idea how the Bengali food is, but the Bengalis around me seemed to be okay with their order.More

We were at Ghare BeIre earlier this month and as on all previous visits enjoyed both the lunch and dinner that we had here. This is a very comfortable and popular eatery located centrally not far from the Shantiniketan Tourist Lodge. Though the menu comprises...mostly dishes of Bengali origin there is enough on offer to cater to the culinary needs of the pan Indian or global visitor. Between lunch and dinner they also serve a selection of snacks which are quite tasty & wholesome .Reasonably priced, with a creative ambiance, you can come with family and kids to enjoy the food here. Service is prompt and friendly, the food lip smacking, what more can one ask for.More

We visited this place on a recommendation of a friend and we were so happy to have done so. It’s situated next to Gitanjali movie hall ,spacious with a earthy feel . What stands out is the food.We ordered the non vegetarian thali on the...first day which comes with both fish and chicken .The amount of food was right with rice etc having second helpings.Food was authentic, good quality and served well. We went back the next day as well. This time we had separate items .The fish is the star attraction here.We had pabda fish and promfret curries ,both superbly cooked. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to fish lovers looking for affordable Bengali food in Tagore's land.More

Next day: Rice, Dal ,Katla Macher curry,Prawn curry ,Polao and Mutton Kosha. I like only -Prawn Malaikari and Mutton Kosha. Polao...is horrible. The prices were reasonable and the servings were also adequate. Food is ok. Nothing extraordinary. Nice ambience with both AC and non-AC options. During our recent visit to Shantiniketan, we went there for dining. We found the place to be having a very good ambiance, waiters attired in traditional outfit, dining hall having cool defused lights and above all the food served were excellent. We opted for traditional...Bengali cuisine, but other options are also available. They ran out of threaded fried potato (chire aloo bhaja), which is the reason we opted for a-la-carte rather than going for the thalis. In rice, basmati and gobindabhog were available and we opted for the second variety, which was nicely cooked. Moong daal (kancha monger daal) and longish begun bhaja (fried aubergine) were good with the aromatic rice. Chicken kosha and mutton kosha tasted better with rotis. The prices were reasonable and the servings were also adequate. The place is hygienic and the food is not oily or extra spicy. We picked up the joint based on the TripAdvisor reviews and very happy for the same. We thought of going back to the same place on the next day, but could not, as the place remains shut on Mondays.More
