My two friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this white-tablecloth restaurant. The food-- breakfast, lunch, dinner-- was, with only a single exception, excellent. Omelets, quiche, cheese & chacuterie boards, vegetable sandwiches, chicken with a nice sauce, lamb -- all were excellent. Portions were generous, and the...More

We went here primarily for the location, history and architecture of the place, and the food turned out to be quite good as well. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, but not in-your-face. I started with the side-by-side soup of black bean & roasted pepper,...More

We ate here twice, even though we were staying outside the park. There were not really other good options--the dining options at Grand Canyon, other than El Tovar are pretty dismal. Not unreasonably priced. Not exceptional food, but decent. The wait staff was pleasant, but...More

We ate lunch here while visiting the Grand Canyon. This is a fine dining establishment with cloth tablecloths and napkins. The waiters are in Tux like uniforms. The food is 5 star quality. The pricing is surprising reasonable (still not cheap). Service is top notch.

We had a good meal here. A tasty menu, well served and good portions in great surroundings. Booking strongly advised.

El Tovar is one of those historic lodges and dining rooms built a hundred or so years ago and serviced by the railroads. You can see the history everywhere. Dining here is an excuse for soaking up some of that history. The food was good...More

You must have a meal here if you are visiting the South Rim - while its daylight. The El Tovar is a piece of history and speaks to a quieter, rustic, but somewhat more elegant time. Had breakfast. Food was good - not spectacular -...More

Our group of 4 gave a one star only because of its location otherwise this would have been 0 stars. From start to finish, this restaurant was a total disappointment. Hostess never got out of her seat to greet us. Not a smile, nothing! Place...More

After taking the Grand Canyon Railway from Williams to the Grand Canyon, we walked straight to the El Tovar for lunch. The views in the dining room are stunning, overlooking the Grand Canyon. The El Tovar is a beautiful rustic hotel and the dining room...More

The day we visited the Grand Canyon Village was very crowded and then turned quite windy and cold by mid afternoon. We drove around in the village area then luckily found a parking place in the lot across from the El Tovar hotel. The hotel...More

There's a view of the rim from the restaurant. It is a nice view but limited to the tables near the window. Thus, if you sit elsewhere in this large establishment you will not have a view of the Canyon.

Not really. We went in for breakfast wearing jeans, t-shirts and hiking boots.
